Cheng planned Xu's safety in return for a "hint". In the present, Cheng defeats the killer, Liu Min, who is arrested. Cheng tries to save Emma from suicide, but Emma is possessed and kills herself. Qiao is also possessed and stabs Lu.
Cheng comes to understand why altering the basketball game had no effect on the timeline, as they were doomed to die anyway. Cheng strikes Lu Guang in anger before crying into Lu's chest.

Cheng comes up with a tactical strategy to try and save both himself and Lu guang, however Qian Jing proves that he is one step ahead and things end up going unexpectedly for both sides.
Lu Guang visits the police to help Xu, and sees Cheng inside a photo. Cheng gets into the killers trunk, and eventually realizes the woman being killed is Emma. Cheng exits the photo defeated and talks to Lu and Qiao.
After the game, Cheng Xiaoshi continues the mission smoothly. After delivering the messages, Cheng soon realizes that this mission was directed toward an unspeakable memory- an Earthquake that is destined to kill Chen's friends and family.
Cheng loses track of the kidnapper while trying to avoid changing the timeline by interacting with Qiao Ling. The duo eventually gain enough clues to save the child. An officer asks for the duo's help in another case and is rejected by Lu.
