Lonesome is a bootstrapped independent film shot in the city of Milwaukee, released in 2021, written and directed by Tony K. Hall. It runs an hour and five minutes. It pays homage to black and white film and silent film. It has a simplicity to it that is deceptively deep, and can be viewed as a deconstruction of modern relationships. It was created with volunteer actors, volunteer sound, and volunteer effects. The film underlines the loneliness inherent in the postmodern world as the main character Guy, with the help of his best friend, seeks to recover a spark of romance that slips through his fingers. The simplicity of the story and dialogue stand in contrast to the overly complicated views of relationships found in the age of social media, which make genuine intimacy difficult and nearly impossible. A worthwhile and enjoyable debut for Tony K. Hall.
