Long, Long Way from Home

Its a very good start for the seasonCould it be better? Yes and no but its the first episode nonetheless...Its More like a ladder connecting the previous season with our new season but still enjoyable as always...I really like the Mexican arc and everyone involve in that cause its something new and im intrigued of whats happen next and what surprises the season will have...Mark my words Chozen will be the absolute highlight of the season it was a very smart choice to involve him on the series as a standard character...I give 8 and not 9 cause as i said it was more than a filler but im really overhyped of whats coming next.

Enjoying Johnny and Robby as a team, it's a refreshing change of pace, and it's great to see Johnny at least being somewhat honest about his obligations for the first time. I don't expect Johnny to nail it through out the season, and conflict is inevitable, but it actually feels like some real progress can be made with them.

We're in season 5 and somehow the driving scenes look worse than ever lol.

Very first scene with Daniel-san and Sam and I was already rolling my eyes. On the other hand though, freaking CHOZEN

Miguel: smart enough to travel to Mexico by himself. Not smart enough not to assume every guy named Hector in Mexico is his dad. Seriously, he did not ask any of the Hectors for their last name, just keeps stalking any Hector he finds. Wtf.

The end of episode 1 without context would've be a cool twist.

Cobra Kai is a show that has a charm of its own. Just when I think it leans too much on the PG side or is a bit too PC it proves me wrong. The episode nicely picks off from the last season earlier this year. It is eventful and at the same time lays some foundations for future episodes. It doesn't gloss over things but takes time to explain its storylines a little better. I feel this overall episode nicely flows with the storylines so far. You don't want a slow episode but at the same time you want to be eased in so a decent start. The acting is great as usual and you can feel the intensity in the scenes.

I like the direction it's heading so far.

The Mexico storyline is getting interesting, still a majority of this episode is build-up for what's to come.

There are a lot of moments and jokes in this episode that I could see coming from a mile away.

I found it strange how simple-minded Miguel was in his opening scene, then I realized he's still a teenager. Still a unique scene and the payoff to that moment became the most satisfying part in the episode.

With the exception of some of the slapstick humor so far, I can tell I'm really going to enjoy this season. Season 4 is probably my least favorite season so far and season 5 appears to be heading in a different direction.

No spoilers - but the show picks up right where the other one left off, though, there does seem to be a LITTLE bit of a time-warp.

As in, I just realized that there's perhaps at least a month or even 3, from what happened with the Cobra Kai dojo (it's in the commercials advertising for this season) and what happens with Johnny as he chases after Miquel.

Anyway, considering I didn't notice that until after the episode was over, just shows how good it is.

It's the same old Johnny, with his throwbacks to 80s sentimentality (thank God!) yet, he's not completely the neanderthal he was. I mean, at least he uses a cell phone.

The plot still has some surprises, which, I gotta say, is really amazing that they've been able to do that through five seasons - it's what keeps this show fresh. Perfectly understandable and believable twists, that don't leave you feeling like the writers/directors are trying to pull a fast one on ya, "Gotcha!" - rather, you're left nodding, and thinking that it makes sense.

Can't wait for the next episode, and it's so refreshing to see a modern series, (there are so few - another one is Stranger Things) that can keep things new and interesting, without having to drop to cliches or unbelievable plot-holes or gimmicks to keep you glued to the screen.

And this isn't just fan service, in bringing back people from before - however, fact is, there's nothing wrong with fan service when it serves the plot, and also brings in new fans as well.
