Enough is too much in this followup to Maitland Ward as femdom, courtesy of Kayden Kross. Looking terrific as sort of a porno mix of Gwyneth and Claire from mainstream cinema, Kayden treats the fans to her own presence on screen as an unlikely apprentice (called a "delegate") to Ward.
Spotlighting Maitland's entertaining overacting and smug style, the lengthy 4-part show is staged theatrically, all play-acting with a studied avoidance of reality. Whether taking place on a blackout stage or in a high-rise apartment or hotel suite, action is stylized, with relentless high-energy gonzo sex waiting to break out.
It's structured around Maitland standing on stage at the microphone, performing a pretentious monologue expressing in sex/porn terms the equivalent of a Gordon Gecko (by Michael Douglas) speech about capitalism and greed. This domme's philosophy is a "Kill or be killed" notion, with her as the Predator. Fans can admire her hamminess while waiting for the intermittent verbal outbursts to give way to overlong gonzo stagings.
To attract the widest porn audience, the BDSM bondage here is present but tame. Mainstream porno sex is the main content, with KK's usual emphasis on interracial sex.
What passes for a biographical story about her character Mistress Maitland includes a brief montage of clips from the previous DVD volume with players like Markus Dupree and Riley Reid, as well as shots from "Muse". Her transition from being a sub to domme Brigitte B to becoming a full-fledged dominant force of nature is more B&D time than S&M.
The final orgy supervised by Maitland features uncredited white-masked watchers out of so many ritualistic BDSM movies, notably Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut", and is strictly an anticlimax.
When MW came on the porno scene in 2019 she was a revelation, but top-heavy showcases like this are making her seem to have overstayed that welcome. Previous great porno actresses like Georgina Spelvin and Veronica Hart were character actors rather than Mae Wests.
