If you have misophonia (hatred for saliva mouth clicks when people talk) DON'T watch this show! The narrator is somewhat okay but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE else they interview speaks with horrible smacking, saliva mouth noises! It's like they had everyone smoke a jay so they all had a horrible case of cotton-mouth right before giving everyone a peanut butter and banana sandwich to eat. Then seconds later they start the interview with the person speaking in a lower tone while the sound guy sticks the mic INSIDE their peanut butter filled mouths! (No, not really but thats what it sounds like!)
The only conclusion I could come up with is that they WANTED to pick up on the maximum amount of saliva clicks and smacks as possible because i can't understand how the sound techs could miss this. It also doesn't help that everyone seems emotional, like on the verge of tears, even though many people shouldn't be emotional at all about what they're saying at the time!
FFS give these people some water, move the mic back and to the side a little, tell them to project their voice a bit and turn down the damn gain! Then go through in post-production and use software to fix the audio in areas where that doesn't work! How on earth anyone could let this become the finished product I'll never understand! It's disgusting and takes away from the stories in every way.
If you don't have misophonia it's a pretty good show.
