Unusual for a television show, creator John Wells has a very strict policy of no scripts allowed on-set. The actors and actresses have to know their lines by heart.

The Gallaghers constantly refer to their address as North Wallace St. There is no North Wallace St. in Chicago, only South Wallace. Also, streets on the south side do not have "North" as part of their name, hence north side and south side. However, since it is a fictional series, the name of the Gallaghers' home street makes sense so as to not offend anyone living on a real-life street of Chicago.
