Overall, the pacing of the episode still feels a little weird at times and a scene will either feel like it went by within seconds, while some other scenes feel incredibly dragged out like.
But that, is my one and only criticism of the entire episode.
The dialogue is superb, finally after years of the main series ended, and finally since episode 1 season 7 of TWD do the writers allow non-dialogue scenes where the actors and actresses are able to fully emerge themselves into the characters they play. The episode doesn't shy away from letting you sit there and come with your own interpertation of what just happened in the scene prior.
The Croat has a cool backstory in a way, and while I do still crave for more, more story, more shown, more twists and turns, I for the first time in many years feel confident in saying that the writers have made sure there is much much more to come.
In comparison with how I would view the average walking dead episode, this one stands up there with 'too far gone' and 'A' to me.
"Who's There?" is the secondo episode of "The Walking Dead" spin-off "Dead City". The plot is full of action and the scene that gives the title of the episode shows Negan returning to his former cruelty and sadism, killing his enemy without any merci. In a world like disclosed in "The Walking Dead", is a form of survival and leadership. Armstrong is captured by The Croat, and it is an interrogation mark since this character has not been developed well yet. Ginny at the Bricks (former Hilltop) seems to be a filler segment in the show. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Who's There?"
Maggie and Negan encounter native New Yorkers; Armstrong revisits a trauma; Ginny attempts to adapt to change.
We are now on episode and soon half way through of the six episode season, a length which was splendid in The Walking Dead, judging from this episode I'm sure TWD: Dead City will be as focused as that season. What this episode has is a much smaller cast, focusing solely on Maggie and Negan, which means you won't have to worry about filler. The script the director worked with was great and focused on building on the events of the previous episode and expanding the characters of our antagonist and deuteragonist, Zeljko Ivanek as "The Croat" and Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong respectively, along with Mahina Napoleon as Ginny who we get to follow as she settles into the New Hilltop which gives us more insight on what happened since the TWD series finale timeline wise. I like it a lot. We also get to see a flashback with Maggie and her son. This episode has in my opinion much more action, every scene has plenty of suspension, some even with you on the edge of your seat. This is uncharted territory for our protagonists, Maggie and Negan. I'm loving the location "New York" much more the more I watch and get to see. The acting, oh man, the acting of these two. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, they are phenomenal in this episode! The dialogue heavy scene halfway through the episode was just brilliant in so many ways, drama wise, just two actors acting and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's monologue explaining The Croat, just brilliant! The community of New Yorkers were a fine additions for the world building but most importantly for the story and our characters. I love how Negan is showing his showmanship again for the Croat's group, finally a guy who knows how to write Negan. There's two sides of him, one brutal side and one caring side, this is a morally grey character which I love! Something I loved about this episode is how there are truly not much ammunition and firearms left in the world, the native New Yorkers uses different kind of weapons like nail guns and stuff like that, a criticism I have for Fear TWD and had for the eleventh season of The Walking Dead. Honestly, I'm loving this show, Dead City has what it takes to be up there with the golden years of The Walking Dead. Negan's back, baby! I also can't wait for the blu-ray release with maybe extended scenes and R-Rated dialogue for Negan which they used to do for the main show. Great episode and a nice build up episode!

- TriviaBuraz is Croat for brother, and burazi is the plural form of said word.
- ErroresWhen Gritz was attacked and killed by the walkers breaking down the door in the previous episode, he was carrying his M16 rifle in his hands. However when he is walking around after turning, the rifle is now slung behind his back.

Negan Smith: [Negan mocks the Burazis by assuming both the role of Questioner and Respondent in the "Knock-Knock" joke refrain] Now, where the hell was I? Oh. Right. Knock, knock!...

Negan Smith: Who's there?...

Negan Smith: Butter...

Negan Smith: Butter who?...
[Normal voice]
Negan Smith: Well, you butter get out your umbrellas 'cause it is about to goddamn rain.
[People gagging]
Negan Smith: [Blood splattering] Now, I don't know if any of you have checked tonight's forecast, but if I see even one mole hair on one of your ugly ass faces, it won't be just a rainstorm. Hell, it won't be a thunderstorm. It'll be a goddamn hurricane!
