Sith

Well I am amazed at this episode! Creative, with excellent animation/artwork, that has not been seen before in all of my watching history and breaks away from typical animation and anime (don't get me wrong I love anime) bold story line, more of this would be welcomed. I was so very moved by this piece of work. For all those who posted negative thoughts, let's remember this is Star Wars universe and it will be about what has come before in that universe all reimagined in different life/light forces, and wish to follow faithfully with every iteration of it. Star Wars Visions season 2 starts with a solid episode about a former Sith being confronted with her past. This is of course nothing special, we have seen it countless of times, but one thing dtands out and that is for sure the art style!

The studio behind it is hispanic and it is the first time a non japanese studio animates a Visions episode. It works pretty good and was a fresh new style! In fact this is what I like the most of the episode. All the different colours look beautiful! I hope the future episodes can keep up with that quality. However we have seen better before, so I expect better to come!

This isn't the best of the season, but it's not the worst. The main character is likable enough. Her droid is extremely likable and probably the best part of the episode. The action is decent. The use of color and music is well thought out and unique. There's enough here to make you curious about the main character's past. The way I judge a lot of these since they are essentially experimental styles and plots is "Would I like to see more of this?" and the answer for this one is yes. How much more, I'm not sure, but there's enough here to keep the audience engaged and curious. It also sets the tone for the rest of the season pretty well.

What is the message here? This feels like a long métaphore that never lands. The minute I saw the blobs of paint I knew this thing was gonna be awful and that they were never gonna explain that because once they came up with the art style they green lit the rest of the episode with no story. Nothing about this has any place in Star Wars. Droids don't have eyes! She had two blades the entire time. The paint thing is like a political cartoon that labels everything. The action was horrible. And she leaves for no reason in a ship that has no basis in Star Wars art. I bet they patted themselves on the back for this one because you can tell whoever made it was full of themselves! Horrible!

I won't be watching any more of Visions. Star Wars has gone to the dogs. Trite, tired storyline, patronising dialogue, smug and self-satisfied episode of a smug and self-satisfied show. I am expecting an avalanche of thumbs downs for my opinion that is contrary to all of the reviewers worshipping everything Disney produces. Have viewers' expectations of what constitutes good quality storytelling fallen so far that they feel this is actually worthwhile?

I skipped through the reviews and saw that everyone who didn't like an episode has had only one or two positive responses, I am fully expecting the same. Disney Star Wars has become a cult. Any voice of disagreement treated like the remaining humans in 1978's Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

By the end of this series there are very few reviews on the episodes, no one is bothering to say how they feel, perhaps for fear of the downvotes, or perhaps because they (like me) stopped watching.

The art style seems to be deliberately attempting to be interesting. Character design gives nothing new, at all. Moral? Be yourself! It also flies in the face of any previous tale about the difficulty of leaving the Sith and Dark Side behind.

I'm boring myself, I feel like I did when I finally gave up on Marvel during She-Hulk. I'm so far away from the audience Disney wants, my voice does not matter.
