The film was made for a 72-hour film competition called National Film Challenge 2011. There were 124 films completed for the competition. Serious Stuff for the Runners was chosen in the top 15, and the film also got three awards; Best Screenplay, Best Costumes (shared with another film) and Best Use of "Period Piece" Genre. It was also the only Finnish film at the competition.
