Whoever said anime can't have good storytelling? Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is an extremely well crafted work of art.
Our story begins, oddly. With Frieren having already completing the most consequential journey that the world has ever seen. Her and her compatriots successfully defeated the Demon King and have brought a prolonged peace to the land!
Normally, we would instead be watching her on that very journey, but this is not a normal work of storytelling. Although that journey was more consequential to the world, it was not so much to Frieren herself. Beyond Journey's End instead showcases Frieren on a new journey, but this time it is solely focused on personal growth. Rather than being plot driven, it is a character driven story.
The animation style, music, voice acting, and storytelling are all phenomenally well done. I also enjoyed the slow pacing, and the characters moving to a new location almost every episode. The series never felt stale or boring.
