First off, they uses a different song instead of animating we're back witch pissed me off because that song would fit better but Dan I hated your stupid summer is starting right now song, which brings me to the secondly, I'm just going to say it, summer is starting right now is not a great song, at all, when I heard it it made me sad, it's not good I mean like at all, the song drags on, the animation is the worst Phineas and Ferb has ever had and it would just be better to put the we're back song in the episode, oh and it was huge, but whenever I heard it I muted the TV, also this is that stupid killed off a character story, and I hate them their predictable boring and you already know the person is coming back in the next episode and yes that's what happens, also the episode is so boring I keep watching my phone and then I fell asleep for real, what a horrible revival episode after a pretty bland movie that would bring back the series, if you like to watch Phineas and Ferb in order this would be okay but episode three onwards is so much better,
Wheres that fireside girls spin-off Disney!?
Horrible first episode of the revival.
Horrible first episode of the revival.
Phineas and Ferb finally return!!!
And it feels like they never left in the first place. From the second this episode starts, you know that the show will have the exact same flavor as the first four seasons did. From just the opening song of, " summer is starting right now" it embodies the entire show. It has the energy that the show has and it just feels like it never left at all. Just in the first two minutes.
The episode itself finds a way to change the formula up slightly, so the first episode is not the exact same thing as every other episode. That's how this episode would stand out compared to all the other ones. It changed it up just so that this episode stands out from the rest as that premiere almost 10 years later.
And we have returned to this world like we never left in the first place!
Summer has officially started!

It's somewhat rare to see traditional hand drawn frame-by-frame animation in a big studio series nowadays, which makes it sting even harder that when actually they do it, they still, instead of real animation cleanup, they hire Snipple Animation to mask over the roughs with cheaply rigged characters. It just looks so cheap, blobby and soulless. The entire new season looks like this, which sucks because everything else about it has been pretty on point.
I think this technique is born from a mindless corporate desire for everything to look "clean", when really it'd look much better if they even just colored the rough animation with no cleanup whatsoever. I'd even rather it was actually rigged animation, but this "fake" looking animation just feels insulting.
Most Disney and WB cartoons from the past 5 years have used this cheap technique, and it's always so deflating. Any potential for the show to be good just goes right down the toilet. As soon as they release a trailer and I see that recognizably sluggish and ugly Snipple animation, all hype dies and all I can say is "ugh".
I just hope the few traditionally animated shows that are still around from before this trend don't switch over to a studio like Snipple, it'd break my heart to see more shows like Big City Greens, Adventure Time and especially SpongeBob SquarePants that have always had great animation from studios like Rough Draft, Saerom and Sugarcube, become victims of Snipple, the bane of animation.
It's not too late for Phineas and Ferb to make this right, they can switch back to real animation and we'll all forget and forgive this awkward half a season, but something tells me I'm yelling into the void, and the decisions like this are out of the hands of the animators that actually care, and in the hands of executives that only care about the cheapest option with the least human touch.

This review is referring to the first two 24 min episodes taken as a whole. I'm glad we are getting this, but the writing feels too aware of itself, and a lot of the joy of the original show is missing. A well crafted reanimation of a show that existed in a completely different culture.
While the twist and high stakes are cleverly incorporated in this first episode, I think it warps the normal tone of the show, and it doesn't quite create the same emotional tension that past special episodes did.
The computerized animation is distracting. I would even say that the OWCA files animation style felt more natural than this.
Also, there is a pretty bizarre phallic image that happens when a Mr. Slushy Dog display penetrates a banner. Tasteless and vulgar. And the "blows joke". The show was great because it never tries to appeal to kids at the expense of immersion, and the new episodes seem to struggle in this regard. During the sea shanty in the submarine episode this was especially obvious, and it's impressive that they managed to make an outdated reference even as the episode aired.
Overall, I could care less about the quality of this whole revival if I get to see the Jeremy wedding objection and Suzy fight in Meap me in St Louis.
