It's one of those rare historical dramas where the plot keeps evolving without dragging or feeling repetitive.

The acting is another standout. The leads have amazing chemistry, and both deliver such layered, believable performances. You can really feel the characters' growth and internal struggles. Even the supporting cast is strong, funny and on point.

Visually, the production is beautiful. The costumes, sets, and cinematography are all top-notch, but what really pulled me in was the emotional depth and how vivid each scene felt. This drama is a masterpiece. I finished it in 3 days. Stayed up. The last few episodes made me cry so hard. Too many surprises and too much emotion. Romance, comedy, tragedy and war. When i first started i thought i would give up somewhere (considering giving up on drama was normal for me). But this drama never fail to bring me to next episodes. Climax after climax.

I love how all the characters with their wisdoms in whatever they're doing. The way they interact with each other feels real and so close. And, of course, the chemistry between Nan Jun and Nv Jun, and all the other characters that made this story so alive. Zhe yao.

For a long time, I have not seen a good historical film like this, I am a fairly fastidious person when watching Chinese movies, especially the historical films related to the battlefield. Right from the first impression, the film attracted me with the beauty of the main actress and a masculine drawing of the main actor with a story that was not too new but impressive enough and detailed details I was bored, I watched the movie continuously when I just aired. Normally, Chinese historical films will have quite ridiculous and complex details that it is romantic, making me feel offended my intelligence, but this film solves very good and reasonable situations.

My first reason to watch this series is because of the Ml. I've seen his acting in many dramas and he executes very well. He has the eyes that delivers the message and acts well as a villain or as a compassionate hero. He also handles romantic scenes well. The plot of this drama is also good - revenge, arranged marriage with love to come much later when couple learns to trust each other and tribulations with warring states. The other characters in the series are all interesting too. My only one deterrent is the FL - her acting still needs improvement especially when the rest of the cast are pretty good. She always look like a bunny caught in headlights with mouth opened. I realize that's the look she often portrays in the series. But I'm glad the character she plays is smart and somewhat sassy. Otherwise, it would have been hard for me to give a 9 rating.
