Season 4 seems to be leaning heavily into filler content with boring 'character development' taking in the form of Frenchie and Kimiko. He's never been a character that has been written well for and he's the weakest element in the show, him and Kimiko.
Besides that, the Boys make for a triumphant return even if it gets fairly heavy in it's own political satire that has the risk of ruining the illusion when it mirrors our own world so closely.
The show has the risk of going around in circles without actually pushing the narrative forward, hopefully that won't happen.
Butcher, for me, remains the most important element of The Boys and always has, and I really do hope his screentime isn't reduced any further than it already has.

I felt there was barely any progress to the story in these 3 episodes , must say im rather dissapointed after waiting for so long. Sure there are a couple of new interesting characters such as sister sage , will be interesting to see her development with Homalander. I cant help but to root for Homelander at this point , he is by far the most interesting character, Huey and his friends are just kind of annyoing and boring, especially MM I dont understand how he gets so much screentime like what the actual F?? And what in the world happened to Starlights face? Its unnerving to look at her now. Hoping for some better storytelling in the upcoming episodes , cause these ones felt like nothing but filler episodes. And can we ditch the Ryan/Homelander drama? Its so obvious where its leading , its a book ive read a 1000 times over now and its getting old , he goes from loving his dad and then to hate im in the next episode , just pick a team and stick with it.
This is easily the best of the three. Pretty much. This episode finally made me care about these characters again, and actually managed to create tension with that ice rink scene, unlike the scenes from the previous two episodes where they tried to be intense but failed.
The episode does a lot of great character work for many characters and character relationships and dynamics, giving more depth to them.
I really like what they did with Starlight here really driving the point home that these main characters we love aren't really that goody-two-shoes and they all have done horrible things in the past. And also surprisingly giving Firecracker more depth at the same time, and making her more than just a goofy new bad guy character who's just there for the audience to laugh at and just be the one-dimensional far-right mocking character.
Butcher and Ryan's relationship is developing in an interesting way too and pretty much every dialogue scene with the characters (even Hughie and his mom) is great to watch.
This is by far peak Boys for this season. It has a lot of funny gory scenes with people getting accidentally cut in half and mutilated, Homelander being scary again with another intense scene, great dialogue scenes between characters, and another iconic Homelander mirror scene which makes me more excited for where his plotline is going to more than the dawdling they were doing with him in the last two episodes.
It seems that the theme of this season is every character revisiting and confronting their pasts and the things they did in the past. From Homelander to Annie and Frenchie and Kimiko, it seems that we're gonna get more of their past this season and I ain't complaining.
Anyway, the first two episodes were fine, but this episode was a lot of fun and got me excited about the show again setting up interesting premises. Here's hoping the rest of the season is gonna get even better than this.

Quite frankly, the strongest episode of this season. Could have been more crisp with the writing. The whole thing with Butcher is a bit more concerning as it is badly written. The Boys aren't doing any better from last season. I wish the plot develops more. It's quite hard to keep watching this season as it's just doing nothing to satisfy the initial seasons. The frenchie plot seems to be abruptly cut - the butcher plot is good, convincing - I wish soldier boy comes back, he was entertaining. I don't know how it did. The writing has dipped way more than the expectations. I am being way generous with the ratings, but, writing team. Please get it better. We need more of The Boys.
Season 4 has taken a downturn & this episode finally turned me off. I shan't be watching anymore. It feels like nagging.
There's just too much of an obvious political propagandised slant to the writing; without the fun.
Normal folk, working class folk, watch escapist TV not to feel the creepy contemporary stroke of political agenda. They watch to escape these things. Obviously all writing, all art, reflects reality but these days there is far too much art trying to affect... devoid of balance.
In season 4 It's just all too full-on. It's no longer fun. It's tiresome & not clever or inspiring in anyway. I feel like I'm being nagged.

- TriviaThe incident at the Starlight House closely mirrors a real 2016 incident at Comet Ping Pong in Washington DC. On Dec 4, 2016, a man believing the widely-propagated and false "Pizzagate" conspiracy drove to Comet Ping Pong. He threatened employees and guests with an AR-15, demanding to see a basement that did not exist. After discharging three rounds from his AR-15, he was arrested by local police. No one was injured in this incident.
