His performance in Season 4, where he further delves into the character's psychological nuances and unhinged behavior, has only solidified his reputation as a standout actor in the series. The depth and menace he brings to the role make a strong case for Emmy consideration, showcasing his ability to balance charisma and villainy in a way that keeps audiences captivated and unsettled. Antony Starr's Homelander reaches new heights of character development and dramatic tension. Starr masterfully captures Homelander's escalating instability, blending moments of vulnerability with terrifying outbursts of power and control. His ability to convey the character's inner turmoil and the facade of invincibility makes for a compelling and chilling performance. The layered portrayal not only highlights Starr's versatility as an actor but also elevates the narrative, making a strong argument for Emmy recognition in a role that demands both subtlety and sheer intensity.
This is the quintessential "The Boys" episode that was missing in Season 4 so far. Every character is at their worst, in the best way possible.
Anthony Starr perfectly captures Homelander's trademark diabolical smile throughout the episode. He is rapidly moving towards transcending his human emotions and achieving his goal of total domination.
It's also smart what they've done with Butcher's character and health arc. Having him just resign and accept his fate didn't feel like the Butcher the show has built up. This episode changes the trajectory his character has taken since the seventh episode of Season 3, and I am all for it. Only Butcher, at his devious best, can be a true counterweight to Homelander, which the showmakers seemed to have forgotten in the previous few episodes.
Starlight and Firecracker are yin and yang. It would be interesting if the show gave Starlight more grey undertones to add depth and substance to their feud.
Hughie and Mother's Milk have been done a disservice by this new emphasis on past trauma, as their characters are unlikely to receive any substantial growth or screentime this season. However, what they do with Hughie's father will be very interesting to watch.
Overall, this is a fun episode through and through, with some despicable eye gore moments. This is what I expected the first episode of the season to be, but I guess better late than never.

Hard to put into words how good a TV show is when it reaches that pivotal moment when all comes together to make for a truly ecstatic moment of TV. This episode not only had it all but was able to push the storytelling and deliver so many satisfying moments while keeping us truly on the edge of our seats. So gratifying to see writers who have just got everything right and gave the whole cast moments where each get to shine and leave us heartbroken.
The atmosphere shifted so many times from the intimate to the spectacle, there isn't a scene to waste. Awesomely inspired.
Well done and thank you!!!

The earlier episodes of the season were.... lets say a little stale at best. It was worth it. Absolutely. This is the best episode of the season so far, and it might even be one of the greatest in the entire series. I hope the future of the series and this season will continue on as great as it always has. Homelander was stunning this episode. It was extremely well acted and the writing was excellent. I can surely say i absolutely enjoyed this episode and im hopeful for what is to come next. I will however say that while it is awesome, I hope that the future can be better, for the series and for the show.
After a somewhat slow start to the season, the boys picks up with one of the best episodes to date. Nearly every character is given their own time to shine, each in their own unique plot lines. Even though the show is splitting its attention between nearly 15 characters, the pacing is absolutely immaculate! Nothing feels rushed whatsoever, and the episode is not afraid to take its time for certain scenes. Every plotline is simply fantastic this episode. Homelander has one of his best episodes ever, Butcher is excellent as always, Hughie and Kimiko have an amazing team up, Starlight and Firecracker's beef escalates to an insane degree, Frenchie has an excellent conclusion to his plotline this season, and even characters like Ashley, A-Train, and the Deep get their time to shine. The episode is also filled with absolutely wild twists in it that could potentially change everything for the boys. It is absolutely an episode that will keep you glued to your seat. Diabolical!

- TriviaKimiko is shown to own a copy of "Speech Therapy Aphasia Rehabilitation STAR Workbook" by Amanda Anderson. This is a real resource used in speech therapy.
- ErroresIt makes no sense for Ashley Barrett to leave a floater in Homelander's bathroom. He is so extremely petty she could not put it past him to have the fecal DNA analyzed in order to find out who did it.
