Although this particular episode was rather hilarious with satisfactory and snappy comedic writing from Mr. Zach Hadel and Mr. Michael Cusack, I was personally disappointed that this episode did not keep the promise of its title, implying that the individual character, Pim Pimling, would actually turn green (or his skin colour, green).
Pim had remained the colour purple throughout the duration of the episode and not once had he turned green or chosen to turn his colour green by his own free will. While previous episodes of the Smiling Friends series had kept their promises on their episode titles to the letter, such as 'The Smiling Friends Go To Brazil!', 'Erm, the Boss Finds Love?', and 'The Magical Red Jewel AKA Tyler Gets Fired', this certain episode had the gall to.do the opposite outcome of those former episodes and subvert the audience's expectations and mine.
It is a possibility that some viewers and fans of the Smiling Friends television programme may find this outcome unexpected but still enjoyable regardless. I for one, however, beg to differ as I finished watching the episode feeling very disappointed and shaking my head in shame to the showrunners and creators of this television show.
What should have been a powerful and impactful season finale to finish off the second season of this wickedly funny animated comedy, had instead ended with much disappointment and unfulfillment. I am personally expecting a formal apology from Mr. Zach Hadel and Mr. Michael Cusack for their failure to deliver what their episode had proposed and breaking its fulfilled promise. They certainly should have known better than to disappoint their devoted fans, for which I am one of them.

WOW. Just, wow. I've always appreciated how Smiling Friends has subverted the tropes and general cliches of modern animation, but I think this decision, and episode as a whole, takes the cake for the most daring and hopefully influential thing that the show has ever done, though there's a reason I have subtracted one star from my rating. Right from the get-go the scene in the ancient temple underneath Smiling Friends H. Q. is a great little piece of worldbuilding. Obviously it's just a joke but I hope they keep the little sandy footprints around the office in season 3 as a nod to this ep. Pim thinking the artifact was macaroni is funny on its own, but imo Mr. Boss' freak-out after Pim wastes the golden glowing jpeg of an idol makes the scene so much better, even if it's not the first time. The episode kind of slows towards the middle when Pim tries to hide his green nature in that ridiculous trench coat, but thankfully due to the show's fast pace we very soon get to my favourite scene in the episode. Charlie shouting "Alien alien, go away!" and kicking Pim in his freaking eye made me spit out my coffee all over my T. V.! I also really like how they used Gelp in this episode. As a 'green guy' himself, his speech to the crew about acceptance being in normal English was again, a really funny subversion. All in all, this episode was daring in that it showed how the series could change a major character's design and still keep its heart. My one problem is that once Pim's trench coat falls off he blends in with the grassy background too much (maybe a meta-joke, you never know with this show lmao).
9/10: Funny, important but still has heart!

I refused to believe it. I just couldn't fathom the fact that Adult Swim would greenlight an episode where Pim actually turns green. Upon reading the news when reviewing upcoming episodes a few weeks ago, I threw my phone across the room in horror upon discovering this wretched plot. Surely, surely it was a joke, I told myself. All I could do was wait for the long-anticipated finale to season 2 of the world's most important show.
"Pim Finally Turns Green" transcends what we know as television. Never before has media so eloquently portrayed the nature of change and acceptance. I, like the characters in the show, couldn't fathom the thought of Pim turning green. However, my bitter antipathy towards Pims now-iconic green hue turned to unbridled joy upon my viewing of this episode.
I will include no spoilers for this masterclass of animation. I think everyone on the planet should see this, at least once, and together we can ALL become smiling friends.
