This movie was so worth falling behind in my assignment. I love the animation style SOSOSO much!! The animators did a FANTASTIC job for this movie. The plot was so perfect and nothing felt rushed. Top 5 animated movies oat, maybe even top 3. This is also no doubt the BEST movie this year!! I really wish netflix had promoted it more though because this deserves so much more popularity than it has rn. The last 20 minutes of the movie had me to flipping stressed and I did cry but the ending was totally worth it. May this type of love find me because this movie made me feel lonely as hell too but its still peak!!
I honestly thought this would be another corny streaming movie, but it's surprisingly wholesome, mature, and resonant. The film is about Nan-Young, an astronaut who wants to go to Mars to follow her mother's path, whom she had lost when she was young. She continues to deal with this trauma until she finds Jay, a guy who fixes retro gadgets. Their meeting each other and Nan-Young discovering that Jay was the one who sang her favorite song were a bit coincidental. Nevertheless, they were still enjoyable to watch. Speaking of retro gadgets, I really like how it is so plausible that in the future, people will stop using some gadgets we use nowadays, turning them into more expensive artifacts for collectors. Anyways, the film is about two souls trying to help each other with their troubled pasts, moving forward, and fulfilling their dreams with each other. I did wish the ending had more. I wanted a longer ending and epilogue of what happens after.
The characters are really well done. It's mostly just Nan-Young and Jay, but seeing them overcome their fears because of each other was pretty nice to watch despite the characters being just limited to them. I really enjoyed their talks and late-night walks about life. I felt it was superior to them speaking about Nan Young's astronaut life.
The animation is pretty well done. I thought this being a streaming movie may affect the animation, but it seems to be very well drawn. However, some CGI parts look rough and rushed. I honestly wished this got a theatrical release to increase the budget and the quality of the animation.
Beautifully drawn, wholesome, and emotional, Lost in Starlight is a good romantic sci-fi adventure that might just tug a cold heart. Not too cliché and corny, it offers a good enough perspective of how to love someone despite the distance, even if its premise is a bit too coincidental.

This movie has incredibly beautiful animation and visuals! Each shot is breathtaking . Man, animation as a medium is just unmatched! You can tell the artists put in so much love here and the result is absolutely fantastic.
The two leads have such amazing chemistry and the premise is really interesting. Sure it can be a bit cliche at times but who cares? This is emotional storytelling at its best! I was not expecting to be so emotionally moved by the whole experience yet here we are.
I'm not usually into movies like this but......wow....this one hit different! It was definitely worth my time.

A beautifully animated story about straying from your chosen designated path and finding something unique.
A wonderful tale about loss and waiting for a loved one, moving forward and finding love amongst the light and dark. It highlights the struggles and strengths of a new relationship, but emphasises someone who will 'cheer you on, even among the stars'.
According to Netflix it's the first Korean Animated Movie to arrive onto it's platform, and it is exceptional, with a brilliant soundtrack.
It has similar vibes to other popular K-dramas and Japanese Animated Movies like: Your Name, Weathering with You.

Lost in Starlight is one of those rare animated films that manages to pull you into its world effortlessly. From the very first frame, it's clear that a great deal of care was put into the visual presentation. The animation is stunning-fluid, expressive, and rich with detail. There's a certain magic in how the visuals unfold, making even the simplest moments feel immersive.
What really stood out to me, though, were the characters. They're written with enough depth to make them feel real, even in a story that leans into the fantastical. I found myself genuinely invested in their journeys, rooting for them, worrying about them, and even getting a little emotional by the end. There's a sincerity to their interactions that makes the relationships compelling, and the voice work brings them to life in a way that never feels forced.
Another unexpected highlight was the music. I went in not knowing much about the soundtrack, but it quickly became one of the film's strongest elements. There were even a few tracks that lingered in my mind long after the credits rolled. It's rare for music to feel like such an active part of an animated film's identity, but here, it absolutely does. The pacing is smooth, never dragging but also never rushing past the quieter, more introspective beats.
Would I recommend Lost in Starlight? Absolutely. It's a visually gorgeous film with heart, strong characters, and a soundtrack that adds another layer of beauty to the experience. Whether you're a longtime fan of animation or just looking for something thoughtfully made, this one is worth your time.
