Episode #1.3

Fresh after the terrible events at the night club, Alastair Boardman, the son of Jonathan Boardman, a high ranking officer is kidnapped, and a video of him bound and gagged is sent. Tara decides to go it alone, and find information about the events at that club, a young woman reaches out to her.

Perhaps not as sharp as the previous episode, but still a very fine watch, it's been good enough to make me binge watch three on the bounce. This one's a little disjointed, moving from one thing to the next, a little too frantically, but I haven't once been bored.

You can kind of understand why Harry has the hump with all of his loved ones, he's got every right to feel somewhat aggrieved.

Is this going to be a series where some random killer will be unmasked, or will it be someone that we know. We've had the smallest of glimpses and nothing more.

If someone agrees to meet you at a park, randomly, don't go!!! Why do they always go?

It's almost excellent, it really is doing a lot of things well, there's just a little something absent, and I don't know what.

The third episode opens with a flashback scene featuring a young Riaz and Harry. They are hassled by a racist white youth.

The date of 2001 is not random. In the summer of that year there were race riots in northern English towns, the target was the Asian community for not integrating properly. Of course since then Britain has had an Asian heritage Prime Minister, Mayor of London and First Minister of Scotland.

In the present day Harry Virdee deals with the aftermath of an attack at the gay nightclub. He finds more clues that leads to the police to find out that the son of the police chief has been kidnapped.

I still find Virdee an uneven hybrid. A Thomas Harris type crime thriller and then it also wants to be Scarface with the antics of Riaz.

The family squabbles are a weak point. Even with Harry eventually finding out that his father had a heart attack.
