This is continuing a better calibre of episode from episode one but it really does feel like the show has had a huge shake up.
It's almost as if they had a rule to not milk and reuse characters from previous episodes too much, prior to this season. They would drip feed cameos and jokes but they always made sure they didn't overdo things too much. This season looks to be doing the opposite in favour of fresh new ideas.
The relationship with the president has really run its course now and constantly harking back to therapy jokes feels beneath this show, then they bring back a character from numerous seasons past, that feels like a complete rehash with little new being said or impact to the overarching story.
I like that they're going full steam ahead but maybe try to keep some of what made the shows structure unique instead of trying to turn into The Simpsons.

This episode was just okay for me. I think the best part was probably Rick, who is as awesome as ever. The first two thirds of this episode are quite good, but it kind of goes off rails in the last third. It was nice to see Unity back. Hey, an old character I remember! It just seemed kind of out of character for the President to infect everyone just to get with Rick's therapist.
You really don't need to see all this throwing up in each other's mouths. Admittedly, the show as done worse things, but this came off as too crude. I kind of missed Morty. Wait, why doesn't Rick just tell Unity that he came from another dimension? Did Unity travel between Universes? Well, she is a God-like being so maybe she can do that. **1/2.

In the last 2 seasons Rick and morty has lacked the magic captured in the beginning of the show. Ep 3 is not a perfect representation of what was but bringing back some familiar faces and continuing to develop president Curtis is definitely a step in the right direction. Where is Morty why is he being hidden? Why has this turned into the Rick show although we have some magic we still aren't seeing the banter between these two iconic characters we all love. Maybe it's due to the change in cast but if these next Couple episodes show the same lack of Rick and Morty in Rick and Morty season 8 may become a Cronenberg version of this beloved show.
Another drop in quality, but not by much honestly.
I still laughed out loud a handful of times. I don't think the writers this season have done too terrible of a job with the jokes. It isn't quite up to par with previous seasons, but not so horrible like others may lead you to believe.
The episode has some interesting things to say about your relationship with your therapist and shows the potential dangers of including your therapist in your personal or professional life outside of their office. Probably the best part of the episode. And I personally think Rick taking therapy is an interesting perspective and not totally out of character.
The small exchange between Rick and Unity at the end was revelatory and necessary to Rick's character. It was nice.
I do think the throwing-up was a bit much.
Not too bad overall.

It seems like ai is writing the episodes. The characters seem like charicatures of themselves. Besides, they implement "gun in your face one-liners", instead of jokes with debth that actually are relevant to the plot. It seems like all the character and depth Rick and Morty had, is gone. Evil Morty will be ruined if he makes a comeback and it all seems a bit cringe worthy. I don't have high hopes, but I'll keep hoping for Justin to come back, since it seems a lot of what he did in the show was offscript and the writers just don't understand how to get that feeling across. I hope they bring in some depth, in favor of random Family Guy-esque jokes.

- ErroresEarly on, Rick refers beguilingly to Unity as they and them- a play on gender politics. However, shortly afterward and very frequently, Unity - a Borg spoof - refers to itself as me and I and even the therapist misgenders Unity by using her and herself.
