First, let me start by saying the script is not the strong point of the series. It is not clear why a volunteer takes unnecessary risks in disposing explosives and is actually "allowed to do so" by the regular Army of another country. What I also don't understand is people suffering from malnutrition in areas covered with lush green forests or grassland. Born in a Tropical country, I know that even a city person has some knowledge about local plants and fruits. You are never off duty in a combat zone and for the sake of romance some situations were created off-base where the Army was without weapons and foreign civilian volunteers were without protective gear, e.g. During the conflict UN staff in Afghanistan, including volunteers, were not permitted to walk in the streets or shop in Kabul.

Having said that, the story is fast paced and has a good mix of action and emotions, and neither is over the top. It's cleaner than the American Series Seal Team and the British Strike Back in terms of violence and physical intimacy and faster than Korean series Descendants of the Sun!! In terms of showing War Correspondence Journalism, volunteer work or UN Peace Keepers, I think the series till now is well done (10 episodes). Will update once I reach the end of series.

In terms of acting the ML Chen Zheyuan is absolutely fantastic, in comparison the FL comes accross as a bit fragile and weak but that may be due to the script as many of the supporting characters are more developed and have strong roles.

I just want to add to all the other 10/10 and 9/10 reviews so far as of 26/02/2025, that this is indeed a beautiful series with so much depth about very important issues such as PTSD, friendship, resilience, loyalty etc and totally agree with all these well expressed comments. In addition to the great cast and cinematography, the OST is brilliant and I have added all the songs to my playlist. I particularly like the singer Chen Xue Ran as well as the songs Te Amo and Find My Way Back to Life so well placed throughout the series. The songs are so heartfelt to the story and just the most beautiful melodies and voices singing. A very memorable series as well as memorable characters portrayed with so much heart and skill by the actors. Well worth watching. I love so much the dance scene in Episode 9 to the OST song, Moonlight Dance as well as Morgan's wedding scene in a later episode. Unforgettable. Definitely my number one Chinese drama.

Wow I really like this type of drama, with a little romance. I like the heroine song ran. Her acting made me carried away, she doesn't talk much and act. But she can bring all those expressions from her facial expression. Yes this drama may seem slow to some, but I personally feel that it is common for romance. Some romance movies also have a bit of a slow pace. However, some scenes actually benefit from this, for example the shots of the ruins and the main character with the little child. Such dramatic scenes require a bit of slowness. In order to create the desired atmosphere.

Some romantic scenes that involve just looking at each other are very sweet in my opinion. And then for the songs used to be very suitable, I listened to several songs that also had not appeared in drama scenes. Some songs really make me sad and I think of those who have experienced that for real.

Overall I really like it all, it's just that some scenes use cgi fortunately it's not bad. But it would be nice to use the original atmosphere.

Highly recommended, in my country it is very popular, it has been a hot search and top 1 for more than a week. The story is very good, the acting of the male actors has developed a lot, the chemistry is...It fits the female protagonist very well. They are very sweet. I watched the making-of footage where they are very dedicated to this drama. That's why his character is so loved, maybe we don't even find such a character in real life. The male actor is so good he can change his emotions and facial expressions so quickly, it hurts to see him fighting his ptsd. He seems to be really going through it, and yeah but he still Can smile and be kind to everyone.

The acting of the female lead is also not inferior, I cried when she cried, there was even a 3-minute scene without dialogue. But she was able to carry it out very well.

The background music is very supportive, very fitting for a drama setting outside of China. There is one that really gave me goosebumps. The title is white olive tree by Budapest orchestra, sorry if I'm wrong The music made me lose myself in the silence, and for a moment I felt the suffering of some people out there who experienced things like those in the drama. Seeing how hard it was for them and the little kids.

The White Olive Tree might be my favorite drama of the year. Because there are many lessons that I can learn. Maybe for some people this drama is slow and boring, but Every episode enjoys the momentum presented epically by this drama, you will get new meaning and perspective in your life.

I was questioning whether to watch white olive tree as I have seen a lot of people were talking about it on social media. I watched the white olive tree with no expectations and finished in awe..A lot of people would say it is trauma and I agree. I will say this is not to watch if you're easily triggered or not emotionally stable because it's got a lot going on from ear to death to PTSD to torture and suffering. It was both great and traumatic. It was worth the watch though , Chen Zheyuan's acting was top tier and I was truly moved by his character's experience .It was truly a masterpiece, yet traumatising. The drama was worth the watch , it was a heartbreaking story that reminded me to be kind to everyone as we truly don't know what they are going through. A bitter sweet ending that made my heart ache. The actor did so well at portraying their characters emotions , I truly felt a rollercoasters of emotions whilst watching this show.
