I would like to give this film 6 1/2 out of 10, but I cannot give it a 7, so officially for IMDb I will say 6. The idea of the film is good: people succumb to material desires and run up their credit cards, and comedy results. The problem with the film is that it does not know whether it is a drama or a comedy. There are three different stories taking place within the film, one hilarious, one sad, and one that is both, which affects the mood of the film and makes it uneven at times. Still, all three stories held one's interest, the acting and directing was good, although at times the film seemed like a telenovela, especially with the soundtrack, which started out very well, with an up tempo Latin Rock song that made you believe that the rest of the music for the movie would be good. It was generally not, and in fact at times it was very sappy. I saw this film tonight at the always great Chicago Latino Film Festival. But one thing that was very disappointing was that they ran ads at the bottom of the screen THREE TIMES during the movie, CUTTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SUBTITLES! Come on! I speak Spanish, so it was not a problem, but the other two people I was with did not, so it was very annoying for them.
