I wanted to watch this because Park Bo-Gum is one of my favourite actors - he has proven that he can take on much any role and do it credit. In this he is a gold medal winning boxer who joins the police force along with other sports stars to form a criminal fighting team. They all use their particular abilities in dealing with crimes. There has to be an arch villain of course - and it comes in the form of another excellent actor Oh Jung-Se who is the kingpin of the drug business protected by those very high in politics. The story is a virtual dual between these two men.
The problem is that there are far too many fights against impossible odds - and our hero would never survive the beatings he receives. There is of course the obligatory love triangle - but I see no chemistry between Dong-Ju and Han-na - he does his best but she is not responsive at all.
The comedy is Korean - which Westerners may find childish. The scenes of Dong-Ju stuffing whole eggs into his mouth and other food is somewhat off putting - I have seen this in other series and I am not sure if it is meant to be comedic.
I am struggling to continue to watch it - every scene seems to be the same now.
Park Bo-gum certainly earns his money - it is a very active part for him to play - if I continue to watch it will only be for him.

Ex Olympic athletes form a special police squad initially as a PR stunt but they take their roles seriously and go after a drug boss who controls the City and its officials. Whilst pursuing the baddies they use their talents as a Wrestler, a discuss thrower, a fencer, a sharpshooter and a boxer to defeat horde after horde of well armed gangsters. We also have a love interest with the boxer Park Bo-gum and the sharpshooter Kim So-hyun. It is an ok script but would have benefitted from fewer episodes and different crooks as the head criminal played by Oh Jung-se has the ability to escape every trap, a skill nearly as good as the ability of Bogums face to repair after a pummelling. If you like lots of well choreographed fight scenes and the goodies overcoming all the odds this is for you.
Forcing a conclusion, the plot drags on, failing to portray the characters in the show to their fullest extent, but the portrayal of the truth is excellent, and the villain's acting left a lasting impression on me. I also really enjoyed the interactions between a few characters in the show, such as the team leader's performance and that of the other four members, as I was impressed.
The drama Good Boy is amazing to watch the story the actions and characters but without ji han na, in this drama her behaviour her character her acting skills were all flop! It ruined the drama. It was so disgusting i stopped watchinh after episode 10. She was hillarious. I wish she chould be a little better.
'Good Boy' is a sweet, fun, and exciting series.
The storyline is engaging with good potential, but it lacks sufficient complexity as a crime drama.
The pacing feels draggy in the second half, and tighter editing could have improved the final product.
Park Bo-gum's acting is extraordinary - he conveys emotions through body language and eyes alone.
Oh Jung-se also shines brilliantly as the main villain. He had the potential to become an iconic character.
The comedic scenes and the professionally filmed fight sequences are both standout strengths of the series.
The soundtrack is excellent.
The cast chemistry is strong, especially the enemies-to-brothers dynamic between Park Bo-gum and Lee Sang-yi.
However, the romance subplot feels shallow and less noticeable compared to the action scenes.
Overall, 'Good Boy' offers a delightful experience for fans of action-packed series with comedic elements. But its fight scenes alone don't make it a true crime drama, as it lacks necessary depth!
Watching it was enjoyable for me.

- TriviaThe series was Park Bo-gum's first foray in the action genre; he had six months of intense training - including an hour of strength workouts and two hours of daily boxing practice to play his character Yoon Dong-ju. He also learned movements by working with a boxer from Uzbekistan.
