In the Mud has some things in common with other dramas of this genre, but unlike most of the others, the violence, death and brutality never seems to let up.

Pretty much everyone is either violent, cruel, drugged out or mentally unstable. That makes it difficult to care what happens to them and to get engaged in the story.

It's pretty obvious that the show is written by a man because most of the women are either being sexually exploited or portrayed as grotesque, obese, or physically damaged.

It seems like a fight or a riot breaks out every ten minutes. At some point you realize that there's no real plot and no payoff.

If you like cheap, badly acted telenovella with added soft core porn then go ahead! Otherwise skip it! No characters to connect to. Everyone is pretty gross. Simple writing. Cliche. Tying to be Orange is the new black but a thousand times methier and disgusting. Good for a nap and nothing else! Monotone drivel.

Dive into a gripping prison drama that hooks you from the start! I've never been behind bars, so I can't vouch for its realism, but this series makes time fly by in the best way. The characters feel authentic, with no glaring plot holes to pull you out of the story. It's far from boring, and the pacing keeps you glued to the screen. Best of all, no character is overly likable or detestable-they're just human, keeping you intrigued without picking sides.

The series are so incredibly gripping that I found myself completely drawn in from the very beginning. Every twist and turn leaves me on edge, and I can't help but literally yell out loud, "What on earth is going on?!" because it's just that intense. For me, this is an easy 10/10. I honestly don't understand why some of the other reviews aren't as positive, the current score feels way too low for how good it actually is.
