Unprecedented access to the trailblazer herself. The one who made it okay for generations of girls to be unapologetically interested in sports. She dealt with all of this so Caitlin and Paige could run, and finally we get to hear it - don't be surprised when she tells it with the grit that got her there.
7.5/10 stars
It was great to see her greatness, her humour, her uberconfidence, her wit, her vulnerability, her perserverance, her commanding presence. She is that DUDE. I loved the moments with her parents and sister. Their immigrant story raised a great one. She wasn't a cheater like Russell, Bird, Magic, Shaq and Kobe. Surprisingly, the cheater was Penny Taylor, who doesn't get mentioned enough as one of the greats. Sue Bird (my all time favorite) is everywhere! Does she sleep? Is she DT's only friend? Great insight into Russian women's basketball and, as usual, scant insight into Olympic basketball. Overall, I found the episodes informative but disjointed. There always seemed to be something missing or questions left unanswered Episode three had about five different timelines. Who's Bill? I totally forgot about her "scandals." Also, they had a camera crew following her for a year and she didn't know if she was going to retire? 🤔I know they weren't going to follow her for "ONE MORE YEAR! I would love to know what Skylar Diggins thinks of this documentary. For what it was, the documentary was good. Great to see her get her flowers while alive and relevant.

This isn't just a film about the greatest basketball player of all time, but an extraordinary immigrant story that proves anything is possible. Diana's swag and wit, both on and off the court, reveal just how much the world has been missing out on this star. This is a film for everyone, not just sports fans.
I might be completely biased here, but this is a really important documentary - to come out now, of all times. The WNBA hasn't had its due until now. And, everything, all the greatness, all time athletes, legacies that came before that, have a grave chance of being forgotten. "Taurasi" thoroughly and seamlessly explores the waves, ups and downs, nuanced playing career of the GOAT, Diana Taurasi, who has elevated the game of basketball in all levels and was the poster child of the league, when the WNBA was sadly just not ready for it. With a lot of sports documentary, we just get the highlights of an athletes life start to finish shown in a straightforward manner, but that's it. This doc is personal, heartfelt and real, not shying away from the messiness of things, and instead talks about these topics honestly - and that's all that you need. You could tell this doc was made with genuine love for its subject and understands the gravity of portraying and showing things right. For a lot of people, this is the first, full view of Taurasi, outside of the click-bait one-sided debates that simply don't know the history and relevance she represented and held up for so long. With this documentary, I hope this pushes people to appreciate those that came before and look into the games that were played in years past. To finally get the recognition and praise from a worldwide stage that financially and culturally society didn't support and only now has opened up. Now, with the attention, eyes and awareness, let's give Taurasi and many others who have transformed the game for generations to come, their much deserved flowers.
And she deserves every accolade attributed to her - knew so little of Diana's story till now and loved really getting to see her and her family together. So uplifting to see the story of immigrant success and I loved Dianna's commitment to her team the Phoenix - incredible staying with the one team - that's an immigrant's values - true - loved this!
