Not a terrible pilot, per se, but not exactly one I think will hook many people.
As someone who has seen four episodes now, the first episode is by far the worst so far - the others are actually pretty great.
I enjoyed the 1970s intercut clips and the cameo from Bob Vance, however.
Decent cast, too.

Not only is the filming and direction of this show way off brand, it isn't funny. In fact it doesn't even set a funny premise. Not one. It is completetly flat. The acting is generally bad. The characters are lame and uninteresting, they don't stand out from one another. Situational and physical humor attempts fall completely flat. Not sure who the audience for this show is supposed to be with all the pandering, but honestly that shouldn't matter as the internal humor isn't funny. So, there's no mock in this mocumentary... it is just a fictional documentary that isn't interesting or funny at all.

For a new series premiere, this first episode is a great start. The characters seem well developed already, and several interesting plot lines are begun. I cannot wait to watch more! This feels like a breath of fresh air and brimming with creativity and relevance.
Domhnall Gleeson is so likeable in this show! He has that pluck, under dog spirit that I enjoy rooting for!
It's great to see Oscar back too!

It isn't great. A few characters are good but the rest are unbearable to watch. That being said, the good ones are good and there are good, funny scenes but overall it didn't make me want to keep watching or anything, but the characters that I did like, I would personally like to see more of, so I will.
One episode in, I think the show has potential. But if you don't get rid of Esmeralda, it will be literally impossible to watch. Her character contributes, absolutely nothing, and is a major annoyance every time she speaks or appears on the screen. I don't see any way they can make her into a go-forward character.

- TriviaAs Ned and Mare have their first conversation, a "Froggy 101" bumper sticker can be seen on a cabinet in the background. The same sticker was also displayed in the Dunder Mifflin office near Dwight's desk.
