I'm always skeptical when it comes to local Indonesian films quality. Until today, I got slapped hard from this one.
When I agreed to watch this film, my only expectation was to hear Bara Suara's "Terbuang dalam Waktu" that has been my favorite since 2023 for its poetic lyrics and beautifully layered orchestration that blends musical escalation with orchestral elements.
Turned out, this 1-hour-59-minute film exceeded all my expectations across the board. From the music scoring to the visual aesthetic, from the scriptwriting to the acting and editing; every element was executed with remarkable precision and soul. Not once did it feel boring, forced, or cheesy. Every scene was grounded and sincere.
The cinematography stood out without trying to dazzle with excess; instead, it simply presented life as it is, making it easier for the audience to emotionally connect and evoke deep emotions.
Editing played a crucial role in keeping the story engaging. The time-loops film storyline flows with efficient, purposeful cuts: nothing wasted, nothing dragged. I wouldn't be surprised if the musician collaborated directly during the editing process, even tweaking the score to heighten specific moments. It shows.
This is a film that's worth watching in the cinema, to experience the grandeur of the eargasm scoring, and to fully immerse yourself in a story that speaks directly to the soul. You may shed a few tears - not from sadness, but from the resonance of feeling seen. From understanding.
And it lingers. It lingers long after the credits roll.
Because this is not just a romance film, it speaks to our soul about hope, acceptance, struggle, love, and faith.
This film is a prime example of what can happen when a project is built from the heart with pure collaboration, intention, and trust.
Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan is not just a local triumph. It's a masterpiece work of art that deserves to have international attention.

This movie is a masterpiece by Yandy Laurens, surpassing all his previous works. Every scene feels like a painting crafted with heart, emotion, and soul. The story holds deep meaning and is filled with mysteries throughout, with plot points slowly unfolding one by one until it reaches a breathtaking climax. This isn't just a movie, it's a true masterpiece.
Now let's talk about the cinematography. Well, this is Yandy Laurens, your expectations won't be let down here. The acting? I could feel every emotion from all the actors. It's backed by a strong plot that's both complex and engaging to watch. And the choice of songs, the background music, it all fits the movie perfectly.
Maybe there's just one flaw, especially from a general audience's perspective. The beginning feels slow, and it might make you go, "What is this even about?" That actually happened when I watched it in the theater, the person sitting next to me was more focused on their phone than the movie. So yeah, this movie might not be for everyone. But for me, this is a true masterpiece.

Yandi's creative direction shines in "Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan," a masterful expansion of the beloved series. The film, released in 2025, deeply enriches the intricate narrative, offering remarkable detail. Sheila Dara's portrayal of Sore is a standout, showcasing impressive character growth across multiple time loops. Despite its nearly two-hour runtime, the story feels incredibly dense and purposeful. This film deserves accolades for its compelling plot and Sheila Dara's powerful lead performance. The evocative scoring further elevates the emotional depth, making it a truly immersive experience.
A captivating film that excels in every aspect - from its breathtaking cinematography and well-crafted plot to its evocative soundtrack and deeply human character development. Watching it felt like being gently pulled into a world that mirrors both the beauty and complexity of real emotions.
By the time the credits rolled, I found myself on the verge of tears - not knowing whether they stemmed from joy, sorrow, or a quiet sense of fulfillment. It wasn't confusion, nor was it dissatisfaction with the ending, but rather a profound emotional resonance that lingered long after the screen faded to black.
This wasn't just a story being told; it was an emotional experience that speaks directly to the heart. Perhaps the finest example of drama and romance in Indonesian cinema - sincere, poignant, and unforgettable.

Using a non-linear storyline with repeated timeloops. Some people who are not used to seeing films with timeloop plots may have trouble comprehending the picture. But Yandy Laurens skillfully wrapped it all together so that even though the story had ups and downs, I was still able to enjoy the film as a viewer. The movie is divided into three sections: Chapter 1: Jonathan, Chapter 2: Sore, and Chapter 3: Time. Each chapter allows us as viewers to see the perspective of the characters from each side. The chapters effectively guide the audience through the lives of the two main characters, Jonathan and Sore, and how Sore must compete with time. The climax of the film is fantastic, and it is supported by the music scoring, which moves from low to high to represent the progression of the characters. Despite the film's excellence, its concept may be considered commonplace-there have been many romantic films wrapped in fantasy or science fiction-but Yandy Laurens once again executes the entire thing with remarkable skill and near perfection.
