Memoir of Rati

I'm genuinely surprised (in the best way) by what GMMTV has created with this series. Only 7 episodes are out so far (out of 12) but it has already made a strong impression(on me). It's a beautifully crafted period drama and if you're familiar with the history between France and Thailand, the storyline becomes even more meaningful. What really stands out is how well the show captures the essence of that era. The setting, the costumes, the atmosphere and everything feels authentic and immersive. The first lead couple is my favorite, also their story feels deep and emotionally engaging. But the second lead couple also holds their own and both pairs have fantastic chemistry. The performances across the board are solid, every actor has done a great job so far. This series has real potential. It gives you a genuine feeling something that lingers after you watch it. GMMTV definitely deserves credit for stepping out of their usual zone and delivering such a quality historical drama. Can't wait to see how the remaining episodes unfold!!

Memoir of Rati continues to please, and surprise. The candid depiction of the brutal inequalities in Thai society paired with the development of the gay relationship(s) is impressive. As is the acting of the two gay couples. I feel the coming-together of R and T in episode 8 is one of the emotionally/visually best ones ever filmed, with two actors who really knew their job.
