The movie took me on a nostalgic trip to my childhood summer vacations. A must watch. Todays generation would not understand the life without mobile and computers, that's exactly where the movie takes you. A simple story line set in North Konkan.
All new cast with great performances by each and every character played to perfection. This movie is sure short going to take you down memory lane. Mapuskar the Director of the movie has brought out performances from the young actors, who surely have great careers ahead, no where their acts make you feel of under or over performances. Do watch this honest effort.

April May 99 is a beautiful slice-of-life Marathi film that transports you straight back to the innocence of the late 90s. The Konkan backdrop, the carefree summer days, and the simple joys of childhood are captured with such authenticity that you can almost feel the sea breeze and taste the ice-golas.
The child actors deliver heartfelt performances, especially Aaryan Menghji, Shreyas Thorat, Manthan Kanekar, and Sajiri Joshi. Their chemistry feels natural and unforced, making you relive your own childhood friendships. Director Rohan Mapuskar deserves praise for his sensitive storytelling-balancing nostalgia, humor, and tender emotions without ever becoming melodramatic.
The cinematography is a delight, using warm tones and natural settings that make every frame look like a postcard from Konkan. The background score is subtle yet effective, enhancing the emotional pull of the story.
Overall, April May 99 is not just a film-it's an experience. It reminds us of a time before mobile phones and social media, when friendship, curiosity, and innocence defined childhood. A must-watch for anyone who wants to smile, remember, and cherish those golden summers.

Simpler the story more skill is needed to fill it with right scenes and words that lets a theme emerge. Here one is taken to a idealic surrounding of village school, joint family ,coastal culture and agriculture with universal vulnerable sensibility of teenage years.3 friends grown tall but mind heart soul of children are thrown in contrast with a urban girl of same age different perceptions. Scenes float by you as you risk a lapse into your own unique Teen years and a vacation to grandparent or Mama Chya Ghari Jauuu Ya children rhyme .Let us go to Maternal uncle grandparent home by a chook chook gaadi train is the rhyme sung by all born as a marathi.
The time flies and film stops leaving you in mid air for a moment ,then bringing you back to today. To reminisce about your own experiences many years back.
Cinematography is lucky as Geography it has to capture is a known captivation. But responsibility is fully met, justice done .I would watch it again even for that Beauty of konkan .
Faces of teens are natural. Scenes not composed artificially .Elders float into scenes doing the needed supportive role .Teens steal your heart. For a few the film might leave a sense of loss of those years .We need such films .

From start to finish, the film is a beautifully crafted journey filled with heart, soul, and stunning performances. Sajiri Joshi, Aaryan Menghji, Shreyas Thorat, Manthan Kanekar, Rajashree Potdarji, and the entire cast have delivered memorable performances that leave a lasting impression. Each character is distinct and impactful. Hats off to Director Rohan Mapuskar for bringing this brilliant ensemble to life with such finesse.
The film is visually mesmerising, every frame is a piece of art. The cinematography and editing are top-notch, capturing the essence of the story with elegance. A special mention to how Shrivardhan was portrayed, so captivating that I'm already planning a visit!
The music is another gem. The songs linger long after the credits roll, especially "Mann Jaei" sung by the legendary Sonu Nigam ji is truly soul-stirring.
April May 99 made me laugh, cry, and reflect it's a rare cinematic experience that touches the heart through its simplicity and emotional depth. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a film this much.
Highly recommend watching it in theatres to truly feel the magic and scale of the film. Kudos to the entire team!

Hello, This movie is very simple and nice showing life of people in konkan especially in the cell phone less era. It took me back 30 years before right into that era where television was only telecasting for one hour and for which we had to wait for hours. City life has became so stressed and fast that we almost forget to live in this moment. Its better than those Bollywood movies buggeted with 100 of crores.
Simplicity has become rare.
