Guardianes de una gran nación

I started watching it as a just another spy thriller like Mission Majnu but it turns out to be an extra-ordinary show. The plot of the show is very well researched and equally well shot.

The show has well acclaimed actors like Rajat Gupta, Tilotama, Anup Soni & lead as Pratik Gandhi himself. The Show will make you believe that you are in Pakistan! Right from the dialog and the way Urdu-Punjabi dialect are spoken in Pakistan, is very well done the actors and looks good to watch them.

I gave Saare Jahan Se Accha: The Silent Guardians a solid 7/10. Casting is strong-Pratik Gandhi, Sunny Hinduja, and the rest deliver powerful performances that elevate the show. The premise, loosely inspired by real Cold War-era intrigue, hooks you right away and stays engaging. But I felt the ending was rushed and underwhelming, not quite living up to all the build-up. Still, way more satisfying than most OTT spy thrillers out there.

As with any Netflix series, there's obvious hits and misses, good casting-bad casting, great performance-bad performance, over done action scenes but hey that's the masala we watch!

I think one thing that strikes me is that finally we have something that doesn't portray all Indians as super-smart angels, and Pakistanis as dumb evil people. Due credit is given to both sides, patriotism shown for both sides and some really great lines. It's hard to have balanced takes in geopolitical period dramas, but this is a good attempt!

Should watch atleast once, all the cast members acting amazing, direction could have been the best but overall satisfied.

This series is set in the 1960s and 1970s, a time when the intense rivalry between neighboring countries India and Pakistan reached its peak (though there are differing viewpoints on this). The story follows spies from both sides of the border who eagerly march towards martyrdom to protect their nations. It delves into the life of an intelligence station chief tasked with extracting crucial information from his adversaries before a pivotal event unfolds. The writing is exceptional, skillfully weaving the narrative into the real events of that era. This authenticity creates a palpable sense of realism, making it difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction. My sole critique is the underutilization of Tillottama Shome's character, who portrays the wife of an intelligence officer. The producers could have further explored her character, adding depth and complexity. Each episode is approximately 40 minutes long, and if you binge-watch, you can complete the series in a single sitting. Overall, I highly recommend this captivating series.
