This series has a lot of stories "Ripped from the Headlines" It is
pretty much what the series is known for. Difference is that previously
they wait until AFTER the case is concluded. This case comes directly from
the killing of a health insurance company CEO only 5 moths ago.
The concern here is that this episode could influence the jury in the real case.
The episode showed the widespread support for the killer. Right now most people think that the killing was wrong but a lot of people were applauding the action.
Almost like the Joker movie for real (the original not the sequel)
The thing that should concern is not the action of the killer but rather the fact that large numbers of people sympathize with the killer and regard the CEO guy as a low-life.

This is not only propaganda trash, but the episode is overall terrible written, acted and directed.
They should feel great shame about this
"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."

I have been watching seasons 8 and 9 as of late. The writing and acting is on point for both the detectives and the lawyers. The writers need to go back and watch these shows to get the feel of it. This show is a shadow of its former self. They need to scrap the lawyers. They are so wrong for this show.
What a disgusting attempt to cash in on recent events to try to remain relevant. Don't watch this trash. Instead consider donating to Luigi's defense fund. People are tired of what the Healthcare system in the US had become and this is just a pathetic attempt to profit off the woes of the American people.
I can't even remember the last time I saw an episode of law and order. It sounds like they're on their last leg and just limping along, desperatel to get back to its former glory. Do people still watch this brainless excuse for a drama series? I was surprised to find this show was still on the air.
Anyways, Free Luigi.

Most obvious rendition of LM. I cannot wait for him to come out innocent and you all look stupid af. 0/10 this sucked, never cook again. Absolutely terrible portrayal of L, as he's still on trail, and as a lot of his "evidence" is inadmissible. Can this trash be illegal? It's so bad it's like a crime to my eyes, ears, all my senses! Just terrible. Never cook again for the sake of everyone that had the misfortune of watching this unruly show. If I had a nickel got every LM show/doc that had come out before his trial was over i'd have like....3 nickels. You people are sick. Making money on a man who's life is literally on the line, a make whose presumed innocent until proven guilty!

- TriviaThis episode appears to be based on the 2024 murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. On December 4, 2024 Thompson was shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown with a suppressed handgun. The killer, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, was arrested days later in Pennsylvania with a 3D-printed pistol, suppressor, fake ID, and a manifesto attacking the healthcare industry. Though never a UnitedHealthcare client, Mangione's actions sparked debate: some view him as a folk hero, raising over $750,000 for his defense, while most condemn the crime but sympathize with his grievances. Mangione faces 11 state charges in New York-including murder, terrorism, and multiple weapons offenses-carrying life without parole, plus four federal charges, including stalking, silencer use, and murder with a firearm, which could result in life imprisonment or the death penalty.
- ErroresADA Maroun says they determined the bullets from the victim were fired from the defendant's gun with 100% accuracy. However no ballistics test is ever that accurate, and in real life it is far less accurate than depicted. When a bullet hits a hard target, like a person, it is often too deformed (especially if it hits bone or metal) to make a conclusive comparison. It is actually uncommon for a ballistics expert to say they can conclusively match a bullet to a specific gun, most of the time the best they can do is to conclusively say the bullet was fired from the same make, model and caliber as the gun in question.
