Independent Spirits

This 4-part series is a fascinating and compelling look at a segment of the Scotch whisky world that many people may not be familiar with. Using interviews with those involved, it tells the story of who independent bottlers are and what an important role they play in the Scotch whisky industry.

It's beautifully shot and edited and I especially enjoyed getting the feeling that I was being taken behind the scenes into some historically cool whisky locations. It gave me the chance to listen to people from around the world share their own unique stories about what it takes to make it in this business and, equally important I thought, the filmmakers showcased the real passion that these people have for what they do.

If you're a whisky fan (like me) you'll really enjoy it. If you're not a whisky fan, you'll still find a great story here. Highly recommend.

Whether you love whisky or have no connection yet with the drink or industry, this film captures the essence and spirit of the Independents' who bring so much authenticity to a global community connected by a drink that is inspiring to millions of people across the world.

The team really but some leaves on those branches, to help give the inspirations and insights that drive people to become indie bottlers.

Not only does the film allow the viewer to learn about how indie bottlers work and help each other, it also blows off those cobwebs of the stereotypes who both work in the spirits industry, who create fantastic bottlings and of course enjoy sharing a fabulous dram with great company.

Very interesting view on the people involved in shaping the independent whisky world and their relationships with each other and the big corporations that produce the spirit.

It introduces the viewer to the leading contributors from the major players in this branch of the whisky industry.

Some of the independent bottling companies that have been around for decades are interviewed along with some very new businesses to provide the full spectrum of views on the process of buying, selling, trading, storing, re-racking, finishing, and bottling whisky.

Without these businesses we will not can a chance to taste variations from the standard official bottlings.

This is a must watch if you love Scotch or want to know about it. The history, and passion for this wonderful spirit is masterfully explored in this series. It is an important of the culture and life blood of Scotland and its people. It was a magical experience and I was honored to see the preview in Leith. I have loved Scotch all my life and thought I knew everything about it, but I learned so much. I now fully understand its connection with its people. This documentary series is a true work of art. Every Scotch whisky reflects has its own personality and reflects the diversity of the land in Scotland. Slainte Mhah!

Fascinating and fabulous, I thought I knew whisky but this blew my mind. It's the story of the artists and artisans who have brought their love of whisky to the world. It's these innovators and auters who discover and invent new tastes, sometimes it's a single, exceptional cask, sometimes their expertise is in blending to bring out new tastes, new sensations.

It's beautifully shot and the story is told by the people making the whisky. It's both captivating and informative.

This is a story I knew nothing about, if you think that single marks are the pinnacle of whisky then, please, watch this and discover a while new world!
