There is barely any dialog...just face shots and grimacing and dramatic music. Ok ok we got it the bills are piling up but the story used to be bigger and the characters were more interesting. It's just falling flat. Seriously, more story and less visual angst please!
The whole pressure to perform quicker and quicker is getting old too. It's a restaurant not an Emergency Room with actual lives on the line. We used to learn little things during these episodes and it made the success of an experimental recipe feel relatable. Was there a writers strike..because it's falling short. Still great acting and the cinematography is superb...it's just the story..the writing that needs to get back to what it was.

It really sucks to say that this show seemingly has lost the entire plot. To me this was easily the weakest episode they've ever put out. They made the mistake in season 3 of giving us character and style with no substance. And this doubles down significantly. It's mostly side characters talking about their days or the characters rehashing problems they've had for 13 episodes. I love season 1 and 2 and like 3, but these first two episodes, mainly this one, is like WHO CARES?! I hope the remainder of the season finds its footing but for now, an electric show has become meandering and shallow, and has taken a fantastic cast of characters and made me start not to care about them. Where's the story? What's interesting here? Man I hope they figure this out.
So, right from the opening frame it already sets the tone for another overbearingly depressing episode. I'm sick of it already.
Followed by more pensively depressing scenes. Then convoluted and confusingly angry scenes. And more depressing scenes.
Then I fell asleep and woke up to what I assume were the sweet sounds of Chrissy Hynde and The Pretenders.
I literally fell asleep. ZERO STARS. I'm sick of this show trying to outdo its worst. I won't even need to watch this episode (or the first one) for it to have any bearing on the season.
You got a clock and some help. The rest is meandering filler. Sure, i'll go back and watch the rest of this crapfest then tell you what I really think, stand by...
Oh right, I forgot the part about a lousy metaphor. Completely followed by an entireñy irritating conversation in which the "metaphor" and entire theoretical conversation would be utterly embarassing to someone who thinks they are a restaraunteur.
Is this supposed to be comedy? This show is too depressing and pathetic that whenever they try to inject humor into it feels forced and completely out of place.
Luckiy disney doesn't have enough money so we are forced to watch commercials on a ppv service. The Bear fails at comedy so they need commercial relief.
The more I watch of this episode the more I hate the characters and the writers and basically anybody involved in this show.
This, like all the other crap that gets rave reviews and rabid fans, is utterly unbelievable and not at all true to life.
This is not "emotionally riveting". Its tired and bored and angry and depressing and why can't they set ANY emotional tone in this series without being set to the backdrop of music to create emotion.
That's not creative. Its lazy and pathetic writing. They literally have set the bear so low, that they are toying wih the audience.
Did I say bear, I meant bar. But there you go, when you reach the bottom of anything from now on, it'll be The Bear bottom.
What utter garbage this show is. Full of constant contradictions. No direction, aimless scenes that mean absolutely nothing.
An entire segment of a phone conversation to what? Talk him out of doing what he's doing. If i'm uncle whatever, i'd have him killed for stealing all of his money, since he's supposed to be some big gangster, right?
Ayo whatever here name is, can she leave, take the other job. Maybe just kill her character off. She is the most absolutely annoying person. She is in my top 5 most hated. I've never seen a scene of anything with her in it that I liked.
Like Jamie Chung or Rosamund Pike. Always playing these characters that you hate with horrible dialogue.
And of course, another self-aggrandising music video, a.k.a. Montage, to wrap things up.
The writing of this show is utterly horrible. This entire episode was pointless. As I said, I could have skipped it over and missed nothing.
Who are the imbeciles who rate this crap a 10. This episode gets a 1. I literally fell asleep watching it. Such garbage.
By the way, my review title was penned from the opening frame, knowing exactly what kind of depressing time-wasting, crapfest of a filler episode awaited.
Some reviewer acknowledged it was a filler episode and gave this steaming pile of garbage an 8. So come on then. Shower me with your thumbs down.
You wouldn't know quality if it crawled up inside you and hatched eggs then tore out of you Alien style.... oh dear God.... FX is doing an Alien series too. They're gonna ruin that like they have stripped this show of any substance. Whyyyyyy???
If I could give this episode a zero, that it truly deserves, I would. Someone needs to pay for this. Thank God i'm getting this streaming service on a promo.

Okay now things are starting heat up a little. It's episode 2 of 19 so it's gonna feel like filler, lots of problems introduced. Carmy is still in a funk. Richie continues to impress. Gets a moment to shine. The new "non-negotiables" that he brings is a welcomed addition and doesn't feel like post-Emmy win mainstream blandness... the phone call with sugar and carm will pull you in. Sud is still debating if she belongs here but the idea of her leaving the show or the bear just doesn't feel probable. Not too bad. Hopefully it picks up because season 4 needs something fresher than "sugar has a baby" and "Carmy is working on it"
