This is a poignant film about a man leaving a message for his wife when he discovers what she's hidden in the crawl space under their floorboards in their marital home. Mark (played by Rudy Ledbetter) is caught in between a rock and a hard place, he doesn't know what to do about his discovery. His heart felt message really draws the viewer in, wanting to know more about his wife and why she does the atrocious things she does. Mark is devastated by the items she secreted in the house. It also shows us what a deplorable human being Emma must be, as she likes to keep memento's, trophies from the victims. I also believe he is struggling to come to terms with not only the fact she is a monster, but that she betrayed him and lied to him would have been a major shock to his system, and it would seem he has been trying to come to grips with the situation for the past couple of weeks. But the sad reality is, he still loves her, even after everything she has done. He looks defeated, like all the fight has gone out of him, which would explain why he isn't yelling, showing his emotional anger, because he has had two weeks to process the truth. My heart goes out to Mark, having to lay next to a serial killer every night. The accompanying musical piece is wonderful, it starts off sad and then when we learn what items he found, the music subtly changes to a more menacing tone, enhancing the scene. I also like the fact we get to see an image of a driver's licence covered in blood. It's brilliant that we get to see Emma watching the video message, it's what I would expect, and it delivered. Now, has she found a new target? I love the fact everything is left up to interpretation...this could be the beginning of a feature film. Another golden gem of indie filmmaking by this extraordinary filmmaker.
