On a sode note, this documentary would have been ok, but the images of killing animals was not necessary. How the hell can the hunting and killing of innocent animals still be acceptable in society or by anyone? How on earth can there be "sporting " killing clubs? Absolutely disgusting people. Safari club, what a disgusting joke!
I gave it an honest shot, a little noisy and loud for every unnecessary reason but overall I found it to be a very interesting interesting story. Typical true crime showing you the wickedness of humans. I suggest watching it with an open mind and give it a chance. The reviews here might be a little harsh.
Half the doc u series is random video of animals in safari walking around. Makes no sense and just filler. Jumps around way too much and again, should be one episode. The sound track is also way off and always dark sounding. I ended up fast forwarding a lot to get through all the filler. Dateline has this same murder case you can watch in an hour.
Look...leave your artsy fartsy film making for something other than a DOCUMENTARY. Ridiculous. I need facts and a sensible timeline. Jump cuts, gratuitous big game deaths, odd year, month count down and up is as confusing as this review. Yes, wild animals are fascination but this is not National Geographic or the Nature channel. A disclaimer is imperative .
As an avid true crime show viewer it's rare that I find one I genuinely don't like, but the director and the (annoying, distracting) sound person stepped up to the plate and whiffed big time here.
This was a slog to get through but I watched it all. After doing so, I wish I had that time back. The direction was horrible-- randomly jumping around in time for no reason and taking until the midpoint of the three episodes before the actual murder is detailed (and even then, it's almost a footnote in this strangely directed monstrosity).
Even worse was the noisetrack (soundtrack would be overly generous here), which was distracting and annoying at every turn. Seriously, it's as though the sound person had gotten a a big box of random sound effects from Temu and wanted to find a way to insert every single one of them into the three episodes. As bad as the direction was, the noisetrack was still worse.
I'm enough of a buff I could have watched three well done episodes on this case and maybe even have wanted more. But in this case, I should have turned it off after 20 minutes like I wanted to.
Don't waste your time.
