Pretty Hurts

Needless to say that I was not familiar with this movie prior to stumbling upon it by random chance here in 2025. And of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance, as it was movie that I hadn't already seen, nor actually ever heard about.

While writer Lydia Genner certainly didn't construct a bad script and storyline, I have to say that I found little entertainment in the movie. But then again, I was not in the right demographic target audience. But at least I gave the movie a fair chance.

I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list, and that was actually a good thing. I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. And I will say that the acting performances in "Pretty Hurts" were good, despite the fact that the script wasn't my cup of tea.

I am sure that there is an audience out there for a movie such as this, no doubt about that.

My rating of director Brian Herzlinger's 2025 movie "Pretty Hurts" lands on a four out of ten stars.

I found the whole movie boring! The acting was not the greatest either, but that's pretty typical for young teen movies. I think delving a little more into some of the back stories of each character could have livened them up instead of making them appear as if they're nasty people.

This was a good reminder as to why I don't enjoy these types of movies.
