Catch of the Day

Did you watch "A Taste of Love" with Erin Cahill in 2024? Then you've already seen this entire movie, just with different actors. Is Hallmark running out of script writers who have anything new to offer?! Fill in the blanks and you have either movie, "A rising culinary star on the verge of becoming executive chef at a high-end restaurant. But when ______ calls with news that their beloved family seafood spot in ______ is floundering, main character returns home to help. What was meant to be a short visit turns into a journey of rediscovery, of her roots, her passion for cooking, and a surprising second chance at love with her ex-boyfriend, a local-yokel who never left town".

It seems like it, and you can tell right away, because of the cover picture. Might as well have a wheel of cheese, its always the same, grinning people pretending to love each other. Both am/dram actors at best, i guess quite often in your own small towns theatre group. But not always getting the roles because mary lou two doors down is just as good. And this call for a ginger actress lol.. i cant advise you not to watch this movie, but compare it to watching biege paint dry on an already biege wall. Save your life and go and do something else, you wont get the time back.

Had high hopes for this one as I really really like these two Individually And Together It's nice to see Michael and Emilie pair up. They have an ease about them that makes a predictable story (and this was) watchable.

I would talk about the beauty of Montauk but was it even really filmed there and if yes what parts were and what weren't IDK

The script could have done with some work but all the acting was fine and overall I enjoyed it.

This is right on the edge of average to above average. I'd say it's just a smidge above, which means I will watch it again in a few years or so.

I enjoyed the performances, Ullerup is one of my most favorite Hallmark regulars. The male, Rady, he's not bad either. He is charming compared to most men, not too masculine, not feminine, the perfect balance. The rest of the cast did quite well, the older sister stood out as a major player providing a balanced portrayal of a somewhat disgruntled person. She's been running the family restaurant for some years and she's getting burnt out. The sister's husband has a very minor part and I think he needed a bit more screen time so we could have more male interaction.

The film is a bit uneven in a few minor parts, but it's not taxing on the overall entertainment factor. I felt that many of the secondary actors were underutilized and the backstory is too vague. In addition, 'Catch of the Day' has an average dialogue and storyline, nothing new to see here, but the scenery and interactions create an enjoyable atmosphere.

The story is the same you've seen a hundred times. Woman left her hometown to go to the big city to be a chef, she's climbing the ladder and on the verge of her big shot. Then she gets called home to help out because her family restaurant is struggling. I know, why not just be a chef at your family's restaurant located in Montauk, a semi-fancy part of New York State, right on the water and everything? Who knows, I suppose she needed to get away. Her family supported her departure so the story is not totally repetitive.

The romantic relationship is not original. They were sort of sweethearts before and into high school, but something happened in high school, one or both of them became distant, so she left town and that was that. The end is the same as always, they eventually kiss, maybe more than once, one of them must sacrifice their lifelong dream(s) for the other, only to realize it's the best decision in the end. I know, same old story, but that's what makes Hallmark endearing. Sacrificing true love for career is never a smart decision.

If you like the actors, you'll probably enjoy this enough for one watch, so I suggest you see it.
