Fountain of Youth looks the part but has none of the charm or urgency of the adventure classics it borrows from. John Krasinski and Natalie Portman are stuck in a script that favors exposition over emotion, and despite globe-hopping, booby traps, and a mythical fountain, the story never builds real momentum. Guy Ritchie's usual style is muted, and even the action feels perfunctory. It's not unwatchable-but it is deeply forgettable. Great cinematography and Eiza González aside, this is more "content" than cinema. A second-screen special.
Glossy and globe-trotting, Fountain of Youth has the budget, the stars, and the locations-but none of the heart or momentum. Portman deserves better. Krasinski is miscast. Only Eiza González and the Cairo finale come close to working. File under "background noise."

Isaiah Saxon's The Legend of Ochi is a charming, handmade fantasy filled with puppets, practical effects, and awe-inspiring landscapes. Helena Zengel anchors the film with sincerity, and the creature design is a triumph. Unfortunately, the narrative often wanders and the emotional beats don't always land. Willem Dafoe and Emily Watson are strong, but the film relies too much on mood and score to make up for its flat pacing. It's unique and heartfelt, but not as memorable as it wants to be.
Looks great. Feels okay. The Ochi puppets are wonderful, the vibe is very Dark Crystal, and the heart is in the right place. But the plot drags and some of the magic gets lost in the fog.

Until Dawn takes a fascinating idea-teen survivors stuck in a time loop, dying in different ways each night-and turns it into a disappointingly repetitive experience. Director David F. Sandberg crafts a few memorable scares and clever kills, but the execution becomes increasingly flat. The cinematography is murky, the characters are underwritten, and the genre shifts never fully materialize. Ji-young Yoo's Megan offers the closest thing to an emotional core, but the rest of the ensemble is wasted. It's not unwatchable-just underwhelming. Like watching a horror highlight reel on shuffle, it rarely hits the same note twice.
