This could have been a very good movie. About three-quarters of the film was brilliant, filled with meaning and powerful metaphors, much like the first movie. The character arcs were compelling. However, the last part is absolute trash. While you could attempt to draw meaning from the chaotic final segment, the sad truth is that it feels like a forced attempt to meet certain Netflix requirements. This results in a disjointed and out-of-place segment that leads to an ending that ultimately goes nowhere.
Still, I think it was worth watching, at least for the first half, especially if you are a fan of the first movie. The early brilliance somewhat makes it a worthwhile experience, even if it doesn't fully deliver in the end.

It could have been a fun little watch if it had wrapped up in about 80 minutes or less. Instead, it drags on for almost 2 hours with very little content. Most of it consists of pauses between dialogues, which became fairly annoying. I enjoy comedy horror, and the premise sounded interesting enough, but finishing it felt more like a chore because of its length. The jokes were meh; there were one or two that elicited a chuckle. The acting was okay for the most part, especially the main character who did a decent job. The movie was decently shot, although some parts felt like they were missing background music.
It's quite surprising how this show keeps finding new ways to remain uninteresting. Here we are after eight boring episodes, and when some characters finally fall into the Hollow Earth, one would expect to see some monsters and the Hollow Earth for at least 15 minutes of screen-time. However, instead, it takes a detour into another boring backstory-this time among other things about how Kentaro's dad met his mom. Who even cares about these characters? Moreover, I think we can anticipate another boring episode about how Hiroshi met Cate's mom also coming pretty soon, keeping true to the usual formula of about 40 minutes of backstories and boring conversations, with only about 2 minutes of some monster that ends in a cliffhanger as always.
