Changes the characters go through seem to happen in an instant. I suppose that's my main and maybe only problem with it. The thrill and suspense really was ongoing so I can't speak to if it's a good condidate for your movie night. There's an overarching plot that you hope to figure out to the end. Innocent characters that grow out of their shell. All great.
But very little characters were even faithful to their personality.
---SPOILERS--- The main, "leader" character, a police officer, is trying tooth and nail to utilize people in his group to get out of the situation. Even though there's a literal PHD doctor that could have contributed a breadcrumb, their depiction is her being literally nothing but an epitomy of KAREN throughout. She's madly persistent about complaining about the group leader even though it's completely defacto because nobody else will step up because um.. nobody even wanted to take the responsibility. She bandwagons other main characters to group against him, while again, nobody shows any willingness to step up to steer the group that has various talents that the maze's exit is seemingly designed for.
Without getting political, I'm the last person to stand up for a police officer in a power struggle but the other members really couldn't have showed themselves to be more useless, in regards to someone holding the steering wheel: and surprise, you threw him off and the only person survived was the extremely mentally challenged guy that will probably die in a week crossing traffic. That's the morally good ending?
They tried to make the ending moral, that's obvious because the cop goes through character and moral change in snap of a finger when it was convenient.
Honestly the plot was good. Could not bear the movie's faitfulness to its characters though.

It's definitely body horror, and would get under the skin for people who have phobias for these kind of things.
It's fast paced in its scares, which I think really worked for the movie, quick and silent jumpscares gives off Hereditary vibes.
I just wish there was more plot involved about why really these things were happening to them, feels underwhelming lore-wise in a setting where there definitely should be more background history depictions.
Acting was great, especial kudos to Alison Brie, probably the reason I tried this movie is because I wanted to see how her acting transitioned after Community, and she delivered.
