First episode. A woman has a meltdown because of an outhouse. Uh, what did she expect it is back to the 1800s It's hard to believe she didn't reach what she was getting into. Her husband seems great, but the episode ends with him talking about how much anxiety he has of what's ahead. It's an 8 week experience so it just seems insane. The other family is the usual whining entitled kids we have seen from other pioneer shows. Then they have a couple of hyper neat freak gay dads who like tech. So obviously they recruited families not really suited for the 1800s. It would be more fun if it was a game show with 1800s challenges and they could win prizes or money and be more motivated. I predict there will be lots more kids whining and contrived drama.
I was surprised by this movie. The lead actor (kid) is outstanding. Great cast. The story is also very engaging. The set is great, typical western setting, but lots of natural lighting very rugged.
This movie hasn't really made much at the box office, likely because of the terrible tragedy that happened when they were filming. I was surprised they reconvened and finished filming. However other films have done so, Black Crow being one of them after that tragedy. Perhaps the crew wanted to finish the movie? Terrible tragedy, thoughts and prayers to her family.
I think it is hard to separate the tragedy from the movie. Even though the movie is very good. Probably it is not fair to punish the actors and crew for the poor safety protocols. They must have worked very hard and so again, I hope this was a healing experience, finishing the film.
It is a good movie and worth watching. Perhaps it will do better in streaming.

This is a good docu, she is great. But people shouldn't just go swimming with sharks. There was a guy who did something similar for years and one day he was being filmed and a shark ripped off his leg. It's her life and if she knows the risks it's her choice. But it is valid to worry that social media influencers are taking risks more to promote themselves than help sharks. It seems like she genuinely loves sharks and cares about their survival. I think it is a beautiful film and shows how much they care about their survival animals. Though this is about her, she is really focused on sharks and you can tell she wants the film to be more about sharks and educating people and that really comes through. She is using her platform for shark conservation and risking her life to do so. I actually think she has made a big difference changing things for sharks. I also appreciate seeing sharks in a different light. Other influencers swimming with sharks are mostly men and it is mostly about how brave they are swimming with sharks, whereas Ocean makes it about the animals and I think that differentiates her. Before she became so well known people weren't really cari g much about this, so she has been a big game changer for shark conservation.
