I was worried that the season could drop off in quality since the previous episodes felt too good to be true but I WAS SO WRONG. This episode was VERY well-written and both heartbreaking (in a good way) and compelling from start to finish and Michael C. Hall chews up all the scenery especially in his interactions with Batista showing Dexter's human side. Jack Alcott continues to be a welcome addition and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater is proving to be an all time best antagonist. Definitely recommend.
This episode is not essential viewing like last week's. It was an alright filler episode. Perhaps my expectations were too high after how epic episode 1 was. However, not all that much new happens in the episode apart from an extension of what was already clear in episode 1 - the 11th Street Kids are at rock bottom in their lives. And I feel like Vigilante lost some of his charm from Season 1 and is less funny. However Tim Meadows is a welcome addition as Fleury, all the Eagly stuff was fun, and episode 3 is set up to be much better than this one. But overall, this episode wasn't amazing.
