Born in 1950, Anne Marbeau studied at the Lycée Janson-de-Sailly. In 1967, while still at school, she set up the Compagnie de l'Elan with Eric Laborey and Jean-Luc Jeener. She also took courses at Bernard Birmon's Ecole de l'Acteur, while performing for the company and at the café-théâtre. She performed a wide variety of classical roles and took on several modern ones. She had a parallel career in television.
