Masato Hoshi became pretty popular among young women in the mid-1970s. He released a few single records of his TV drama songs and other pop songs. He was even a regular on a variety TV show, "Ginza NOW!" as a singer (1975). His head shot photos sold well.
In the 1980s, he started acting more challenging roles, not depending on his handsome look.
