Why did I have to do this game such a disservice and discover it in its defunct state? Why? This game was probably a real treasure when it's servers were up, because truly, that what this game was designed for, and damn, the opportunities I would had to play some phenomenal user-created games.
I never played this game in its true glory, so I wasn't able to surf the servers and download user-created levels. My brother had the game oh his Xbox account so that's how I was able to download and play the game in 2022. I actually am very disappointed I didn't discover this game in its ripe state, because by just playing the crossroads game mode, I can tell people would have made some both extraordinary and hilarious levels. I'd say the only truly bad aspect worst I've had with the game is probably the constant buffering throughout gameplay, but the game is long defunct with no updates/maintenance, so this is expected to a multiplayer game. Even in this state, I played the game quite a lot, pretty much just tried to get as many achievements I could because I exhausted all the game modes. Crossroads was interesting, but felt repetitive and pointless by time I completed it for the 25th time. The other game modes (Champion Quest: Void Storm and Conkers Adventure) were fun too; I tried to achievement hunt a little in these 2 campaigns, but it's just not that fun to replay over and over.
In all, this game was okay, but I probably wouldn't recommend it. It's true nature was supposed to be an online game, but because it's not anymore, the game is limited, and basically dead. Oh what it could of been is anyone's guess but sadly, it's just a mere shell in its current state. I won't give this game a bad review since I'm sure it was fun in its prime, but currently, it's very seldom and I wouldn't recommend. Maybe it can be revived one day?
EDIT: Came back to this game a couple months later to gather a few more achievements I missed. Can't say my opinion of the game has changed much. As this game was designed to be online and with games created by users, there's very limited on what I can do on this game, so crossroads game mode was heavily abused. This is where the remainder of my time spent of this game was at. Even though I tried to make each and every crossroads playthrough different and unique compared to the last, very little was different each time I played, but the things I do for achievements is depressing. After killing all starter bosses, getting (almost) each character to kill their nemesis boss, and the grindy achievements like collecting 1000 coins in crossroads or opening 50 chests in champion quest: voidstorm. There were a bunch of other achievements I was working towards, like the achievement where you have to beat champions quest: voidstorm with 4 different characters without dying, and truthfully I was 3/4s the way finished before I just decided this game isn't worth it. Getting these pointless achievements were a waste of time, so I uninstalled. Maybe one day I'll come back to this to complete them and leave with a more positive note, but the grindy achievements and the constant lag this game has is just so mind-numbinly annoying. Actually changing my score from 3 Stars out of 5 Stars to 2 Stars out of 5 Stars. Just isn't fun in this state.
