Accurate adaptation of the novel "To Go and not Return" of the great Belarusian writer Vasil Bykau, who wrote about his experiences in the WWII or Great Patriotic War.
Bykau was drafted into the Red Army, where he was assigned to digging trenches. As the war progressed, he later joined the fight against the Germans, rising to the rank of junior lieutenant.
The plot: It is winter 1942, and in Nazi-occupied Belarus, two young partisans, Zosya and Anton, are sent on a reconnaissance mission.
Throughout three hard days in forests, rivers and swamps, they experience dramatic situations of love, loyalty and betrayal in moments of maximum tension. Anton has fallen in love with Zosya, but her desire to stay alive somehow leads him to betray her. This is not an epic story of battles, cannons and tanks. It is the story of two young people in an extreme situation; two people facing a difficult moral decision.
