I. Effing. Love. This Film.
It starts off as a spoof on Twas The Night Before Christmas...with one cinema shop attendant being a Christmas fiend, while the other is a more of a Scrooge like drunk.
Upset with his bah humbug attitude...Josh prays that the Christmas tree- his Christmas hating co-worker has just drunkenly threatened- will come to life and reap justice on his un-jolly butt.
An act which unexpectedly works, as, when he plugs it in...it transforms into a tree-beast...with an insatiable appetite for the profits of- what one can only assume to be- one of the last surviving video stores in the world.
Which, of course, goes down with a festive amount of gore.
There's nothing not to love about this little gem.
The writing. The acting. The monster. The gore.
All utilized to perfection.
With some kick ass stop motion employed during the tree's transformation, and a couple other scenes.
The whole thing clocks in at just over 6 minutes...but every second of it is entertaining to the max.
And you've got to lvoe that the whole thing was made by a group of cinema-loving freaks from a real life video store.
A masterpiece of Christmas horror cinema, if I've ever seen one.
