Histoire
Le saviez-vous
- AnecdotesThe film was selected as the Hong Kong entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards, but it did not get nominated.
- GaffesThroughout the film, you can see lines of traffic waiting for the peloton to pass. Since roads are closed off from the early morning until when that portion is no longer needed and cleared up, they could spend a whole day waiting. As a result, motorists are discouraged from waiting and are advised to seek an alternative route.

At heart, this is a rivalry and friendship movie, heavily carried by the cycling sport content. It has great production and locations (like a real cycling tournament was organized). Eddie is (again) a great lead! Not only is he very charismatic, at this point, I'd believe he is capable of doing almost anything.
Anyway.. The entire movie is rather awkward. Like an entire soap opera summarized and crammed into 2 hours. With noticeable editing-cuts that feel more like they belong in TV, scarce depth in drama at times (which is not always a bad thing) but sudden spikes in intensity, and lack of a proper foundation. Still, the structure and development of the plot is well balanced and enjoyable. Was surprised on the evolution of the characters and the turns it took. Again, because it's awkward in it's delivery, I was expecting something more straightforward.
I enjoyed watching it, and more so, the rivalry/friendship between the leads.
** The popular "Yowamushi Pedal" anime is a great introduction to the world of cycling! This movie is quite the opposite. It has a fast-paced start, directly into races. It's made for people that are in the known about the intricacies of this sport, but even so, it can be easily followed.
