Before I was involved with the film, I had heard of BDD, Anorexia and Bulimia. The lives of people close to me had been deeply by these disorders so bringing light and discussion to these topics was something I cared a great deal about. What I didn't know, and what I'm sure most of the general public would find shocking, is the existence and prevalence of groups that actively advocate for anorexic and bulimic "lifestlye" as a "choice." It's worth saying that these groups were banned in many European countries because of their destructive potential. They've now come to the US, hoping to exploit our free speech protections in a pursuit to advertise their messages of self-hate and low self-esteem. I'm proud I got to be part of a film that might actually make a difference in someone's life. Shawn Kathryn Kane and Maurice Hall deserve a tremendous amount of praise for a well crafted, informative film about something so many people are unaware of. Kudos!
