Welcome to Hell: The Making of "Tales From the Hood" (2017)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
This here is a well-produced fifty-six minute documentary that takes a look at the making of TALES FROM THE HOOD. The documentary features interviews with Director Rusty Cundieff, co-writer Darin Scott, special effects supervisor Kenneth Hall, special effects artists Charles and Edward Chiodo as well as actors Wings Hauser, Anthony Griffith and Corbin Bernsen.
If you're a fan of TALES FROM THE HOOD then you'll certainly enjoy this well-detailed documentary that has plenty of behind-the-scenes stories. The documentary basically talks about the anthology stories in the order that they were in the film. The segment that gets the majority of the running time is the third one where Bernsen plays a racist who comes into contact with some dolls with special powers. There's some fun talk from Bernsen about apologizing to the crew members because of where he was going with the character. The director and co-writer also get to share some good stories about their love for anthology pictures as well as why they wanted the picture to have a social message.
