Blown Away

"Blown Away" marks a return to form for British pornographer Dick Bush, delivering his own brand of sex & violence for Adult Cinema fans with a taste for Action.

It's a marked improvement over similar recent Digital Playground releases, most immediately in the editing. The 2-1/2 hour DVD is presented in the form of a feature, minus the annoying padding of endless credits, recaps and previews that dogs DP's various "miniseries" of late. If I wanted to watch this stuff on their website, streaming or downloading segments, then I would do that, so for us DVD format viewers the redundant crap needs to be excised, as is the case here.

Show reflects Bush's roots wherein he made the semi-pro pair of "Girls with Guns" videos a decade ago, setting the template for this latest, bigger-budget outing. It follows in the footsteps of the innovative team of Andy and Arlene Sidaris, whose soft-core sexy action pictures of the '80s and '90s set the standard (see: "Hard Ticket to Hawaii" and "Picasso Trigger") for the genre.

Jasmine Jae toplines as leader of a quartet of busty femme jewel thieves, warring with her ex-boyfriend and nemesis Danny D in a cat & mouse (with roles constantly reversing) competition over the course of the film. There's plenty of mayhem with blood-packs and CGI effects along the way, but until his mainstream dream project of "Powergirls" eventually gets made, Bush stresses lengthy XXX scenes as the movie's raison d'etre.

There are plenty of confrontations, shoot-outs and plot twists that I enjoyed, as "just sex" is a complete waste of time in our freebie via internet age of Adult Cinema.

Best moments come in a cute homage to the delightfully campy Sean Connery/Catherine Zeta-Jones caper film "Entrapment", with Jae stripping off her leather duds and cavorting through the fluorescent protective tripwires of light to get at the boodle, just like Cathy did; a torrid IR three-way at the climax with Jae and big shot Jasmine Webb (the two Jasmines of Brit Porn!) double-teaming Danny's big cock, and a strong prison lesbian scene between Lou Lou and corrupt guard with equally big tits (and a handy strap-on dildo) Roxi Keogh. With long dark hair Lou Lou was completely unrecognizable to me, so used to seeing her with her trademark blond pixie hairdo.
