This absurdist and extremely low-brow Girlfriends Films attempt at a feature (rather than the label's usual vignette porn approach) is unsigned as usual. But I would bet on the team of director B. Skow and writer David Stanley, busy at the label with their boy/girl product at the time, being the culprits behind the scenes.
With an uncredited actor cast as Jesus, the porn parable unfolds as black comedy, but unfunny black comedy. (At one point the dialog even references R. Kelly quite a stretch in begging for yocks.) It concerns devout India Summer's search for her daughter Remy LaCroix, who she banishes from her sight early in the picture but has second thoughts about rending the family ties.
The sex vignettes are peppered with would-be humor, the sort David Stanley was famous for in his successful stints at Vivid Video and then Wicked Pictures (the industry's top two labels) before the bottom fell out for storyline Adult Cinema. Much of it is merely functional to set up the lesbian sex scenes, but one fairly entertaining segment about Nudists played in hippy-dippy fashion by busty girls Alex Chance and Chrissy Nova hits the spot, especially since buttoned-down (and fine acting as usual) India Summer gets drawn into threesome action.
Overall it is quite silly, with the filmmakers likely thinking that they were pretty hip in the vein of underground absurdists from the '70s like Robert Downey Sr. or Alex De Renzy. All that separates those who toil at Girlfriends from pioneers such as those mentioned is talent.
